Consider looking elsewhere

Pros:
It's inexpensive, and feels pretty solid. Windows even installs drivers for it automatically.

Cons:
The USB receiver uses both a HID keyboard and mouse driver. This is how the majority of buttons work - it's just pretending to be a keyboard.

Sure, it gets the job done. But it also can lead to unexpected behavior.

There is a MAJOR annoyance in Windows with mine. Every minute or so, the USB receiver seems to think it received a Ctrl-T keypress. So as I sit here surfing in Firefox, it keeps opening new tabs on me... The remote isn't even in range of the receiver.

As for linux, I couldn't get this to work with Mythbuntu 7.10. The kernel recognized it as a keyboard and mouse, but the keymapping is useless there. Couldn't get LIRC to work with it. Best lead I found is that you can setup just like a SnapStream Firefly Mini remote - but this didn't work for me.

The receiver picks up random signals. I have another receiver from another company that also seems to pick up the same mysterious random signal. This is in two different locations (one of which is the 19th floor of a building), so I am pretty sure it's not just my neighbor's remote. Construction also feels a little flimsy. Other than that, works as advertised. Although it's not a bad product, I would strongly suggest spending an extra $10 and getting something a little better.

I only use the remote for my PC, don't have a tv to use it on. Remote works well. My PC came with windows media center xp, but no remote or receiver. I was afraid it wouldnt work, but i didnt have any problems. Just plug the receiver into usb port, install 2 AAA batteries in the remote and it works out of the box. Now i don't have to sit in front of the pc all the time...

works but not great

well all i can say is that it works but it also interferes with my satellite receiver, so when i hit any button on this remote it changes channels on my satellite, not so great!!
