This blue vinyl record came with a sticker on the shrink wrap claiming 180g - no way. This is standard weight, so strike 1. Strike 2 is the disk being warped. It’s bad enough that the needle looks like it will get seasick rising up and down the waves as the record spins. Strike 3 is that the sound is ok, but not some audiophile amazing sound reproduction. Better pressing/weight of vinyl would probably result in a much richer sound. Amazon should clearance these with a warning. Hopefully with gentle time the warp in my disk will resolve.

I believe this is a counterfeit product from Amazon. The audio quality on this disc - compared to my CD copy of the same album - is absolutely horrible. I have a stereo system that includes very highly rated components from Oppo, Parasound, and PSB.
Specifically, the trumpet appears to have gone through some sort of manipulation so that it - and the string bass - sound extremely muted and missing on certain chords. I have listened to the Japanese Import of KOB before - this is not it.
I'm on my third listen of this album - having compared it against my original CD recording from Columbia Records CK64935 - and all I can say is it simply sucks. There's no way this is the widely lauded Japanese import. I want my money back...wonder if that will happen now that I've unwrapped it. Thanks, Amazon.

What did I draw the short straw on this one! I didn't have this album out of it's packaging for 2 hours before I was packing it up for replacement. I've rarely heard more pops, crackles and other distortion on a badly abused album as this one did straight out of the shrink wrap! I went back an read the 1 star reviews and that confirmed what I received. I hope I'm not wasting my time asking for a replacement rather than a refund.

This review is for the SACD. They say Kind of Blue is something everyone should have in their collection. I had never even consciously listened to Miles Davis, but it turns out I knew some of the songs a little bit. So going in half blind and recently discovering SACD I bought this as one of my first purchases. It hands down blows away anything else I've ever heard as far as accurate audio recreation. In the later tracks there is a noticeable scratching sound in the right channel which I thought initially was some sort of artifact from the master tape reproduction of this SACD, but it turns out it was a drum brush, I didn't know about those. The audio just pops out in to the room with an incredible sound stage.
That was on my mehh system. I took it to my friends house who has some B&W speakers and our jaws both dropped when we first started playing it. The DSD format definitely more accurately reproduces the high frequencies of the trumpet.
I have a decent vinyl setup also, but this is just better.

That said I have never had a problem with Amazon Vinyls until recently. In my last two orders, my records were simply left bare on my front door, with the tag slapped on the sealing outer plastic. After further research, I REALIZED THERE'S NOW A BUTTON TO REQUEST FOR PROPER PACKAGING.
Look... I get it. It's important to be mindful of waste and it helps to save costs/space/handling etc. (and in fairness, Amazon is not YET charging for the additional packaging request - although I can already see that becoming a thing across the whole platform in the near future - And frankly, I won't hold you back. I rather have the choice, assuming costs will go down on my end as well), but when it comes to Records, please, just assume that those things are fragile. My Miles Davis record was left in the rain, then the sun beat down on it for hours before I got home. Water damage was just one of the issues, as I'm sure the delivery driver pretty much tuck that album in the back of the van, with other stuff on top of it, because all the corners were smashed... The bottom line here: Amazon!! Please, make Record-boxing a standard procedure that includes plastic wrap + carton boxing. Make sure this option is the standard for fragile items, and if I decide not to box it, then I can uncheck that option... Thank you.

I can say with a certain degree of certainty that one of the main reasons Vinyl collectors pay for music in Vinyl format has to do with the feeling of having something concrete and tangible to be touched, displayed, and listened to. There's a story behind each album you choose (that only you know why), and when you spend money on Vinyl (and they are not cheap!!) you expect all the components of a particular record to be there (a good pressing, intact cover along with intact inner/outer sleeves). Well...

Miles Davis LP Kind of blue.
On dirait l'original.

Really weird but I was taking my cat to the vet and Desert Island Discs came on. My cat continued to cry until a track from this cd came on, whereby he settled down. Unfortunately when the record finished he started crying again. I bought the cd and things are much better.

Great album poor pressing (Blue and Black Vinyl)
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 27, 2019Verified Purchase
This is a great album, but unfortunately this vinyl had pressing defects, so I returned the album, I then went onto purchase the blue vinyl version, this had a scratch at the start of track one and also had pressing defects. I also have this album on Cd and SACD, the SACD is far superior to the CD, and very close to the Vinyl cut, but for now it looks like I’ll have to stick with the SACD or until I can find a decent vinyl pressing.
Update 13th May 2019:
I have now had 3 copies of this album, the last 2 on blue vinyl from Norman Records, both copies had pressing issues, so these were returned. I think I just disgusting, considering this is one of the best recordings ever made. Quality control is none existent, the blue vinyl was advertised as 180g, it certainly wasn’t. If anybody out there knows where I can get a good pressing please let me know at keithfnis@btinternet.com.
Update 18th May:
Found a late 1970's pressing on Ebay, guess what, it was in mint condition and played perfectly. I have now also decided to get a copy of the MOFI 180g 45rpm edition, (not from Amazon) as this gets really good reviews, but rather expensive. finger crossed.

Solo per nostalgici del vinile...
Reviewed in Italy on November 29, 2017Verified Purchase

I ordered a record store day vinyl, nothing on this album to say it is a record store day vinyl very disappointed indeed, why do they advertise falsely? Where dose it state 2014 record store day? We need to be compensated for such under handed actions and they should be fines or closed down its so wrong l will listern to it after reading the reviews and do another review some very poor reviews on the sound quality!!
