I recommend this book for anyone who wants to better understand the challenges and gifts of those with Autism and wants to promote an awareness and acceptance of Autism with their children.
Noah is a very realistic character and his behavior is explained in a logical and tolerant way. Grace and the other children learn early on to include Noah and to make allowances for his sometimes aberrant behavior.
This masterpiece of a book, which is a brother-sister collaborative effort is an excellent teaching tool for all ages. Grace and her classmates are Ambassadors on a Goodwill mission to tolerance. This book is ideal for families, classrooms and any and all professionals who work with children. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The best thing about this book is that it emphasizes Noah's positive qualities and abilities. The message that people with autism are not to be marginalized and to be recognized as the unique individuals that they are cannot be stressed enough. Kudos to these authors/illustrators!
