Great flick, good for all ages, and above all else, it's SCHWARZENEGGER!!! I would really like to see a widescreen special edition of this film, but Universal is severely lacking in that department. The picture quality isn't that great and it's only available in fullscreen pan and scan. But it's a great film either way.

Long before Californians elected him as the Governator, former elite bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger took Hollywood by storm as The Terminator. An overpowering figure with amazing charisma on and off the screen, Schwarzenegger did his best to secure roles outside of the typecast blood and destruction movies for which he seemed destined. Instead, Arnold showcased his diversity by branching out into differing genres with such flicks as Twins, Junior, and Kindergarten Cop... Arnold's success is apparent in this light-hearted romantic comedy which utilizes his likeability as well as his macho man image. A delightful bit of entertainment, Kindergarten Cop is classic Arnold, spawning another of his usual famous one-liners, "It's not a tumor"!

When Detective John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his partner, Phoebe O'Hara (Pamela Reed), get a hot tip that a drug dealer, Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), who they've long pursued is searching for his ex-wife because of some money she embezzled from his operation, the two detectives go undercover to find the woman before he does. With Crisp's wife, Rachel, being the only one alive capable of testifying against Crisp and putting him jail, Kimble is intent on hunting her down. But all he and O'Hara know is the name of the Oregon school the woman's son attends. A former teacher herself, O'Hara agrees to go undercover as a kindergarten teacher in order to weed out the identity of the boy and his mother.

The plan goes awry however, when O'Hara becomes horribly ill, forcing Kimble to become the undercover kindergarten cop. The principal is reluctant, but agrees to give Kimble a try. A horrible disciplinarian with no idea of how to control a group of five-year-olds, Kimble's kindergarten class runs rings around him.

The Schwartz manages to rise above the warnings of W.C. Fields in this movie and even garners some praise for his efforts...I still like it and can show it to my nieces and nephews...there is some violence, but quite isolated and is necessary to establish certain characters and the plot...and we are still quoting the little girl from this film "I'm a princess" lol

I have probably watched this movie 50 times. I taught adult education in a prison and when we celebrated a holiday or something like that, this is the movie I would show. It has humor, mystery, and very little sex or violence. I rented it this summer to show to my grand kids. They loved it!

I subscribe to the idea that movies are a form of entertainment and that sometimes people do not want to watch movies that ponder these deep themes of life. With this in mind, I will now sum up my thoughts on Kindergarten Cop. The premise is unrealistic in itself a police officer going undercover to stop a criminal mastermind who is hell bent on getting his son back. His son is a kindergartener. The dialogue however is priceless.

Little kids are either the greatest thing ever or the most burdensome one and the way they just annoy Mr. Kimbel is like classic kid. This movie is designed as something to make you forget about all the other things going on in life and laugh for a few minutes. Not every movie has to be an all time classic. I have always enjoyed the almost simplicity of Kindergarten Cop.

Really cute, charming film with adorable children mixed with Arnold Schwarzenegger' s big, bad cop character brought to his knees, in tears, by these little people. Pretty ok for maybe 8 and up, as there is some violence, shoot outs between good and obviously bad guys.

Blu ray is not much better than DVD version. I would have thought the bluray would be much better than DVD, but it is only marginally so, and only in a few places. There are basically no special features. But, still, it is bluray with downloadable version (which I might not use), and I like the smaller footprint of the case. The movie itself is great, one of my favorites.

Despite how weird this premise sounds, it actually works and can be considered one of the Governator's better films. A workaholic LA cop must track down the ex-wife of a murderous drug dealer before the latter accomplishes the same goal for more sinister reasons. The search takes this cop and his new partner all the way to Astoria, Oregon, where the ex-wife and son are believed to be hiding out. Through a set of somewhat hard-to-believe circumstances (really, no background checks?), Arnold becomes a substitute kindergarten teacher as he attempts to figure out which of his new charges is the little boy he's looking for. Okay first off, thank you for, despite the main character being a cop in Los Angeles, not keeping the film in Los Angeles...it's been done. The fish-out-of-water situation was enjoyable, though you did have to suspend your disbelief just a bit here and there. All the actors fit well into their roles and I actually found the film's climax worth watching...not an easy feat for an Arnold Schwarzenegger film. If you are a fan of the (now former) Governor of California and one of Hollywood's most well-known action stars, you definitely need this film in your collection. Like I said, I actually liked it. Enjoy.
