I read lots of reviews and I could see if your in a hurry to open the case the wrong way you could break the bezel..but it is easy to tell what way to open it because it is the side with the elastic band on it.

    I bought this cover the very same day that I finally was able to apply all of my Amazon Gift Cards to my account and get the coveted Kindle DX (Kindle DX, Free 3G, 3G Works Globally, Graphite, 9.7" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology). (Be sure to check out my profile and look at my guide on how to literally be able to afford any item on Amazon.) There were a great many other covers available, and some were cheaper, but this was the nicest of the bunch, and has proven to be more secure than the cheaper ones my friends have purchased. It has a strap on the outer cover to secure the cover closed, and that in itself is a nice feature. But it goes one step further. Inside there is a patented locking mechanism that easily slides into the grooves that are built into your Kindle. Once locked in place, this cover isn't coming off unless you decide to take it off. It gives the Kindle that little bit of extra protection, because none of us ever know when we'll trip or fall or fumble our Kindle. LOL So over all, this is a tad more expensive than some of the other covers, but it is WORTH it's price. Looks beautiful, does what it's supposed to do, and made me a happy customer. If you get this for your Kindle DX, I don't think you'll regret it.

    This leather cover is the perfect fit to the Kindle DX, and it was so simple to put on with the special latching (2 latches) that it has inside to secure your reader. It is NOT bulky, it IS very well manufactured and a perfect way to keep your reader protected. Buying it along with the purchase of our Kindle we got what I assume is a discount for buying the two together, and it is a lovely price, for if we had gotten it later, the price was considerably more. MUCH more and for the exact same item. So if a discount is offered and this is a suggested item when you are making your purchase, make sure you take advantage of it because you won't believe what the normal price alone is. There is a stretchy band that comes from the back of the folder to the front and lays in a perfectly etched groove about an inch or so from the right hand side of the folder to securely and gently hold your cover shut as to keep any ill fated happenings from damaging your reader. It also has a nice leather tab attatchment to use as the pull on the band so that it is easy to move it on and off of the cover without much effort. I have two elementary students and it protects the reader from them quite well. Oh and it has a very nice soft inside that faces down onto the reader when it is closed, this helps keep dust and debris off the reader and it wil not scratch it either. I HIGHLY SUGGEST if you have the DX that you have this elegent, perfect cover, you will be glad you do!!

    I have several covers, from simple rubber covers to the more expanded package of hard cased plastic& rubber Otterbox.
    I will keep it simple by summing up pro's and con's:

    PRO's
    1 Reading comfort
    This one is my favorite for when it comes to reading comfort. You can fold the leather cover back to have the 'one page' feel of just the Kindle in your hand, or you can leave it open and then the Kindle reads more like an unfolded book.
    2 protection on the inside and good to hold for longer periods of time
    The inside is soft to protect the screen, and the outside is real leather - which is a plus to rubber which tends to make the hands more sticky after a while.
    3 The weight is neglegible; the item is very light.
    4 The hinge system prevents the Kindle to slip out, which no other cover that I know of has
    5 Elastic band keeps the cover together and indicates 'front' of the device. Many people have complained before that when one opens the Kindle on the back unintentionally, the Kindle could crack at the hinges. By closing it up with the elastic band, you always know where the front is so you never have this problem

    CON's
    1 Expensive. That is why I bought it from overstock.com from the marketplace amazon, rather than new from amazon itself
    2 No total protection. Only an Otterbox case will make sure the Kindle survives a fall on the ground. But for both cases you still need a plastic screen cover to keep the Kindle clean and untouched.

    Overall? If reading comfort is firt priority, and you are careful enough not to damage the Kindle, this is the product for you. If you rather want more safety from damage or scratches, go for the Otterbox, but then the comfortable feel will be compromised for a more heave, rubber 'touch'.

    First things first: this is a good product. However, it's not perfect. There's a lot to like, it looks classy, it's made of genuine leather, it fits the DXG perfectly, and it offers decent protection. Some people may prefer a slip case, but I like this kind of cover. It's not cheap though. Most folks probably will buy it bundled with the Kindle itself, and then it's not too bad, you're spending money anyway, so you're spending a bit more, no problem. If on the other hand I didn't have one and had to buy one by itself, the price would give me pause. It's a lot of money for a cover! On the other other hand, other good covers don't come cheap either.

    So all in all a good product? Well, I have one lingering doubt, and it's a big one... I assume everybody by now has heard about the problems with the unlighted Kindle 3 cover, the erratic behaviour (spontaneaous reboots) you may see when the paint on the hooks gets worn off. Well, what about the DXG? It has the painted hooks as well, and it doesn't have a built-in light. I haven't noticed any failures yet, but I'm not sure they won't start later on. Hopefully Amazon will deal with it if and when they occur, the Customer Service is good.
