With that said, I did find it to be a valuable resource for finding free/cheap e-books as well as finding audio books and other content. Each source listed had a a nice descriptive summary as to what each site offered, if a membership was required, etc. Some of the sources given I hadn't even heard of and will definitely be checking them out. While most of the information can be found by doing an internet search, this becomes time consuming when you have to weed through what's legitimate and what's not. It was nice to have these sources in one place and I'm sure I'll be using it often.
like the format and rhythm of this book. I got a sense of hope
from it; more in the writing than the content. I found his blog
and I am going to follow for awhile to see where he goes.
The spelling errors were bad enough, but there were some sentences and paragraphs that were so bad, I had to actually skip them because I could not make out what the author was trying to say. A basic text editor would have taken care of the spelling errors and any descent word processing program (whether free or pay [Microsoft Word, Libre Office, Open Office]) would have at least shown there were errors in the semantics of paragraphs and sentences.
When the book FINALLY got around to listing free sources for books, the list started with sites that have books that are non-copyrighted books (Gutenberg Project and the such) and ended with a site that did NOT have free books but had books for under $1.
The author keeps going back to Amazon Prime (which is a PAY service) to get free movies, shipping, ability to borrow books and the like. That is all well and good but again, I know about this because I purchased an AMAZON Kindle. Secondly, it's $79/year. Hardly free. Other places listed were Hulu, YouTube.com and others that again have a very limited resource of free material and then want you to pay for 'real' content. Other sites that I had never even heard of before don't load because they are not around anymore.
Every single section (remember there are no paragraphs to jump to at the beginning of the book; essentially making you read the whole thing) starts with Amazon.com and so again it does with free MP3s. And again most are not free (I would say anything you have ever heard of is not free!), but many under 99¢. Other are sites that scour the internet for MP3s that are not free but is in my opinion pirating or STEALING songs that are downloaded. And like the movies, the last URL that contains free MP3s is not even around anymore.
After listing a bunch of NOTHING, the book then goes into the R&D (Research and Development) of the Kindle and then into Fire Secrets (most of which were listed in the BEGINNING of the book.
This book is a farce at best and a waste of time, energy and whatever hard-earned money you spent to buy it.
Stay away... stay far far away!
