This is undoubtedly the best meditation seat we have ever tried. It looks stylish, it's very light and portable, and it even comes to pieces so that it'll easily fit in a suitcase or backpack. But the really great thing about it is the ease with which you can set it up to provide you with the support and comfort your body needs. The Kindseat can be used in a kneeling position or in a cross-legged position. The Kindseat is adjustable in tiny amounts to give you the most comfortable posture. Experienced meditators know that just half an inch can make all the difference to your posture. No more fiddling around with finding just the right cushion (which then compresses anyway). The Kindseat is always at the right angle for you. The seat tilts forwards naturally to allow you change the angle of your pelvis as you sit. If you shift your weight, the Kindseat's angle changes with you. It doesn’t tilt backwards so it’s safe. Despite this flexibility, the Kindseat gives you stable support. Unlike a cushion, it won't compress and sink as you sit on it. It offers support that's solid and yet comfortable and adjustable. The Kindseat's straps are made from the same safe and strong material that climbers use when they're dangling from cliff faces. It's easy to adjust the Kindseat. Adjusting the lengths of the straps that support the seat is a snap: there's a convenient scale on the seat itself so that you can get the seat to the right height for you. Even if you disassemble the stool, you can snap it together in seconds, and the seat will be at the same height as the last time you used it. There a "Kindkushion" for the Kindseat, which is a marvel in itself. The problem with putting a cushion on the sloping wooden seat is that it slides off the front. Not with the Kindkushion! The cushion, which is thin and yet comfortable, has a bottom made from a specially designed material that grips the wood and prevents sliding.

I really enjoy the Kindseat not only because it's very comfortable and completely adjustable, but also because it's such an ingenious design and good construction. The cushion feels firm to the hands, but is very supportive and comfortable to my bony behind, and it doesn't slip at all. The whole bench feels firm and solid while sitting on it, even with the automatically-adjusting tilt. Taking the bench apart, adjusting it, and putting back it together are all very simple operations. The materials and construction feel high-quality, and I am just super impressed with the clever design of the whole thing.
I spent a day or two finding the right height for my body, and I now use the Kindseat in a kneeling position at 19cm. Maintaining a straight back on it is pretty effortless, and I feel no aches or twists in any other joint. The bench really made a difference to me - I feel great sitting on it, almost lighter. Highly recommended.
I've been using it for over a month now, once or twice a day, and this is what I've found: it is easier on my hips, knees, and ankles, and therefore more comfortable than other seats, because it's so easily adjustable. I tried it initially at the height it was set to (20 cm,) and that was ok, but being of the shortish persuasion I decided to make it a little lower, and that has been perfect for me for kneeling. (The variable tilt function is helpful too.) The best of the seats I was using before worked pretty well for sessions up to 20 minutes or so, but started getting uncomfortable after that, especially if I was doing more than one session a day. I've been able to manage sits of up to 45 minutes on the Kindseat with no major physical issues; whatever may be holding me back from longer sessions, it's not the Kindseat's fault. (Even the best meditation furniture can only do so much.)
I prefer to meditate in the kneeling position, but I've also tried the Kindseat for sitting cross-legged. When I do this on a cushion I generally can't last more than 15 minutes or so. With the Kindseat, after lowering the seat significantly, I sat in total comfort for about 12 minutes, and then my outside foot started tingling and my inside knee began calling attention to itself. I switched legs, which was good for about another 10 minutes, then switched once more, which got me to the end of a 30-minute session. Switching my legs around was easier on the Kindseat than on a cushion, partly because the parts of the Kindseat's legs that stick up through the top of the seat provided nice hand-holds while I was shifting my weight. That said, while I found the Kindseat better than a cushion for sitting cross-legged, the kneeling height seems to work best for me. And, as I noted above, making the adjustment is really easy and fairly quick.
Beyond that, it's lighter and more portable than my old bench. It appears to be well-made and sturdy. The optional cushion could be a little cushier, but that hasn't been an issue for me while kneeling; I noticed it a bit at the beginning of my trial cross-legged sit, but forgot about it after a few minutes. (I'm kind of surprised by how well the cushion stays in place without straps.) Perhaps I should mention that I'm generally, though not always, using it with a zabuton - again, I find this enhances comfort for longer sessions, and I was using it with my old bench and assorted cushions. But since the Kindseat is so easy to pick up and carry, I sometimes take it to another room and don't bother to drag the zabuton along, and that works fine.
Because it's so comfortable, the Kindseat has helped me increase both the duration and frequency of my meditations. And while there may be no such thing as a "bad" meditation, meditation definitely seems to work better for me when there are fewer physical distractions.
Recently, I discovered the Kindseat in an online review. I was a little reluctant due to the high price of the Kindseat but the great reviews from my fellow meditators were all so outstanding that I could not resist. Especially for something that you use daily it is definitely worth the investment. I have been using the Kindseat for a couple of weeks now and must really say that I LOVE it! Thanks to the adjustable height and angle, I sit comfortably in an upright posture without any strain. That enables me to directly focus on the meditation without any distraction from uncomfortable body parts. This is really key to establishing a successful meditation practice. Moreover, I can easily carry the lightweight Kindseat with me when I am at a retreat to sit comfortably for longer time periods. A high recommend!
