Kinesis has been designing and building premium ergonomic keyboards for more than 25 years. The Advantage2 features Kinesis' patented Contoured keyboard design and low-force mechanical key switches to address the major risk factors associated with keyboarding for maximum comfort. The fully programmable Advantage2 features Kinesis’ all-new SmartSet Programming Engine that allows you to customize the keyboard’s layout without installing any clunky software or special drivers. Record macros, remap keys, and much, much more. SmartSet works on all major operating systems and enables users to easily create, view, edit, share, and backup their custom layouts. The Advantage2 base model (KB600) features low-force, tactile Cherry MX Brown keyswitches for the most ergonomically correct typing experience. Brown switches offer tactile feedback to minimize unnecessary key impact. The Advantage2 uses generic HID (human interface device) drivers provided by the operating system. It can be operated and programmed without any special drivers in most environments supporting USB devices, including the following operating systems (must have an available USB port): Windows 7, 8 & 10; Mac OS 8.6 and higher (Not compatible with non-US layouts); Linux; and Android. Package Contents: Advantage2 keyboard, Quick Start Guide, 4 extra Mac and PC keycaps & keycap puller.

This is an absolutely great invention. I just can't say how much I love it. The buttons are responsive. The design is great and it looks like a rocket.
It's been around a week that I've been using it. The first days typing on it was as hard as hell. I wanted to die. But now after a week I can type even faster than my previous keyboard. Now when I use my laptop keyboard I feel my hands are on a kid's toy. LOL. Now typing on my older keyboard is as hard as typing and programming on an IPad. I still need more practice for using control, shift, alt and Window buttons. I'm sure after a month I'll master the whole keyboard. Still didn't have time to use keyboards Micro functions. I'll update my review if find them helpful.
The keywells and keyspreading feels natural, there's no strain to type anymore. Thumb clusters are a must have for me now, they are probably the thing that changed my life the most, my pinkies aren't in pain any more and aren't forced to stretch into unnatural positions while my thumbs just sit around. It's fully reprogrammable, which is fantastic in that if you absolutely hate the layout it's changeable at any moment. A lot of macro memory, 2MB might not sound like much, but you can fit possibly thousands of large macros in there. It's also gotten rid of almost any of my previous typing faults, wandering fingers can't happen when the keywells are on separate sides. The real downside to this is that it will take a month before you really get to typing at your normal speed due to the layout, but if you can take that time I really suggest you do it.
So to summarize:
Best keyboard I've ever used, very ergonomic, takes a while to get used to, pain is gone, layout changeability is amazing, fixes bad typing, butt load of macros. Get it if you are like me and spend a lot of time programming.
The new firmware which plays both human input device as well as removable storage on the USB is clever. I cannot think of a more perfect way to provide every conceivable option for backup, external editing, etc. of the macros, mappings, etc. A nerd like me can shove the config into a Git repo to easily track every revision ... if I wanted to.
I occasionally suffered from odd behavior with the older firmware on the pre-Advantage2 models. Sometimes the keyboard wouldn't respond in the BIOS or immediately after boot until the Linux kernel or udev, etc. did something to make it usable. I also could get the keyboard into a buggy mode when I tried using macros if I released the trigger keys too soon. All such issues are utterly gone now.
