As to the quality, they are very nice. Heavy glass and thick Snap-On lids.
I originally bought the 16oz , but returned them as too small. They would hold about 13oz of liquid.
I re-ordered the 30 oz. and they will do fine for my lunch or travel. although they are a little short on size as advertised as well.
The 30 oz. will hold about 27 oz. of liquid. About a 2 sandwich size container.
The quality of the product is very nice. The lids are heavy and snap on securely with no leaks. The glass is heavy and thick.
The product description states the 30 oz. is 9X 7X 7 inches. No they are not, unless you stack all 3 on top of each other.
Although I do like them, they need to correct the description.
They are the perfect size for portioning items separately, or prepping small meals. They microwave well (glass gets hot!) - I open the lid and just set it on top to vent + prevent splattering.
The lids are thick and after over 5 years, still work as they should. No leaks!
The glass is very thick but I did manage to break one dish by dropoing it on tile floor. I have moved with these a few times and they stack super easily by putting on lids and stacking all in a row, no cushion needed between each bowl. Just pad around the whole stack.
I'm about to order some more in the 30oz size. There are many other options but this brand has served me so well, for so long, I don't want another brand!
A note on choosing sizes:
I bought a bunch of the SAME kind. My friend has a million different sizes (the variety pack) and his cupboard is a mess. He has to hunt for the right lid to go with the right container. My theory is that I'm really just going to use one size. I went with 30oz, which I can pack a decent / slightly light lunch into. (I'm a 160 lb active male and eat a lot.) So having JUST ONE SIZE allows all the lids to be interchangeable, and all the items to stack neatly.
Simplicity is a big plus in my book.
If you must have two sizes, maybe there are two sizes that take the same size lid, at least then it'll all stack and the lids will be interchangeable.
I bought 6, I cook a bunch of food use them as packaged food containers (except there's good food inside). Take it to the office, take it on a picnic, eat it at home, whatever it's ready to go.
Re: Mold. One user dropped her rating from 5 to 2 starts b/c there was mold which is couldn't clean between the gasket and plastic lid.
It's easy. Take a kitchen knife. Gently insert it between the gasket and plastic rim. Gently pry out the gasket. Mold will wash off easily now. Gasket will slide snuggly and easily back in. You're good to go for another XX months. Mine have no mold yet, but I did this on my friends lids upon seeing the had mold (probably 1+ year old).
PS I don't put my lids in the dishwasher, they warp a little if you do.
A couple of notes -
I don't use these in the microwave. After defrosting, I heat up contents on stove or in another bowl in the microwave.
I wash these by hand. I don't put anything with rubber gaskets in the dishwasher since the soap and the heat makes the rubber brittle.
The tops should be dry out completely before storing them and I don't store them with the tops clicked down. That will prevent any molds developing in the folds.
Also, the weak point in this design is the plastic hinges in the tops. The less they are flexed, to secure the tops, the longer they will last. So that's another good reason to store these with the tops off.
An enthusiastic five stars!
Yes, you will pay more for glasslock than you would for the plastic kinds. That means you need to take good care of them, wash them carefully, and keep them reasonably well organized. It also means that every time you put something away in a leftover container, it will be stored securely and without staining the container. You can buy a whole bunch of plastic containers for the cost of these glasslock containers -- but you won't be any more satisfied. Quality is more important than quantity, in this case.
