Kinetic Fluid Resistance Unit
How Fluid Resistance Works
In a fluid trainer, resistance is created by turning a blade inside a container of fluid. Fluid resistance is progressive—it increases as wheel speed increases. Our patented magnetic coupler (above in cutaway view) is a proprietary leak-proofing innovation.
Fluid Resistance Mirrors Outdoor Riding
Kinetic's fluid resistance curve mirrors an outdoor ride. Precision construction ensures accuracy and consistency across the full power range of the fluid unit. We use surgical-grade silicone. It won't heat up when riding, preventing power fade later in a workout.
Real Power Training
Our incredibly accurate fluid resistance power curve allows precise wattage readings at exact speeds with Kinetic trainers. Unlock accurate, affordable Power Training with Kinetic's inRide Watt Meter accessory and Kinetic Fit app.
Superior Frame Construction and Durability
A Lifetime Warranty
Kinetic trainer frames are built to be the most durable in the industry. Some might call them overbuilt, but we are fine with that. We expect them to provide you with a lifetime of use.
Durabilitly Sets Us Apart From The Competition
Every frame is made from tig welded, powdercoated steel. Every structural part is made of either steel or aluminum. Our frames are wide, and very stable.
Ergonomic Touch Points
Kinetic knobs and trainer feet are made of ABS plastic overmolded with rubber for better ergonomics, grip, and durability. Feet are also rubberized for better grip.
It's the perfect workout tool for sprints or intervals or all-day cruising. Quiet. Smooth. And like every Kinetic Fluid Trainer, 100% leak-proof. The Road Machine gives you true outdoor ride simulation by automatically adjusting resistance as you change speeds and shift gears-just like riding outside.

I've been using this daily since November and it is a dream! I currently have it on tile with their turntable riser ring. I have a Trek mountain bike with mountain bike tires and it fits perfectly. I only had to swap out the rear wheel skewer which comes included. If you have second bike/user that will be training, the skewer is also sold separately (http://amzn.to/1NQ8aon) here on Amazon for just under $10.
I do have road tires that I think would be quieter, but haven't put them on yet. It is loud, probably a little bit quieter than a blender, but I use some noise canceling ear plugs to listen to music or watch Netflix.
If you want to track cadence/distance and all of that other fun stuff, I will recommend the Cateye Double Strada wireless bike computer. Having the bike on a trainer means the computer and sensors need to hook up to the back wheel (the one that moves). I had ordered another brand and model and the wireless distance was only 60mm. This model ranges from 50-100mm and can track cadence, speed, and distance.
I'm very happy with Kinetic as a company so far and my legs and butt are appreciative too.
Well decided to upgrade to the Road Machine WOW! BIG difference in the feel, resistance and just over all quality to the trainer I was using! I actually had to take a step back and realize my progress wasn't as good as what the other trainer was telling me. Added the 12b flywheel and things got even more close to home. I felt like I was having to start all over again....but at least it was with the right gear this time.
I use the trainer every morning at 4am and cycle 15-20 miles. I have to get up that early just to make sure I have time to get ready for work. People call me insane...I say its dedication in getting my life back. The biggest changes to my physical condition happened when I changed over to the Road Machine (and added the flywheel). Where I started out at 282lbs, I am not at 259/260lbs. Learning to track Heart Rate zones, times and effort. IF you are just starting out....forget speed and distance! Work on Time and Effort! Get in your Zones with the Kinetic Road Machine!
My only regret? Not being light enough to use the Rock N Roll trainer. Looks like it would have been a hoot!
I researched trainers pretty heavily before I chose the Kinetic. The reason I chose Kinetic is because it was a brand that was consistently recommended by both professionals and everyday riders. It is built sturdy and has some smart engineering that makes it almost immune to leaks. So far I've ridden over 150 miles on it and it has preformed flawlessly.
Tip: as you move the roller outwards to fit your bike, it will seem to stop moving at some point and your bike may not fit. Keep twisting the knob and it will open up to accommodate your back wheel.
I did not have to assemble the trainer in any way, but if you get one where the legs are unattached or something, I imagine it is a simple assembly.
As far as noise is concerned, I have hardwood floors and don't have a mat underneath the bike/trainer. I can use it in the living room while my girlfriend watches a movie and it doesn't bother her at all. If you're going to purchase this trainer, I would recommend holding off on a mat until you try it for yourself to check the noise level.
Overall, it's great. Compact, well-made, quiet and, being a fluid trainer, self-adjusting.
