Kinetic Fluid Resistance Unit
How Fluid Resistance Works
In a fluid trainer, resistance is created by turning a blade inside a container of fluid. Fluid resistance is progressive—it increases as wheel speed increases. Our patented magnetic coupler (above in cutaway view) is a proprietary leak-proofing innovation.
Fluid Resistance Mirrors Outdoor Riding
Kinetic's fluid resistance curve mirrors an outdoor ride. Precision construction ensures accuracy and consistency across the full power range of the fluid unit. We use surgical-grade silicone. It won't heat up when riding, preventing power fade later in a workout.
Real Power Training
Our incredibly accurate fluid resistance power curve allows precise wattage readings at exact speeds with Kinetic trainers. Unlock accurate, affordable Power Training with Kinetic's inRide Watt Meter accessory and Kinetic Fit app.
Superior Frame Construction and Durability
A Lifetime Warranty
Kinetic trainer frames are built to be the most durable in the industry. Some might call them overbuilt, but we are fine with that. We expect them to provide you with a lifetime of use.
Durabilitly Sets Us Apart From The Competition
Every frame is made from tig welded, powdercoated steel. Every structural part is made of either steel or aluminum. Our frames are wide, and very stable.
Ergonomic Touch Points
Kinetic knobs and trainer feet are made of ABS plastic overmolded with rubber for better ergonomics, grip, and durability. Feet are also rubberized for better grip.
It's the perfect workout tool for sprints or intervals or all-day cruising. Quiet. Smooth. And like every Kinetic Fluid Trainer, 100% leak-proof. The Road Machine gives you true outdoor ride simulation by automatically adjusting resistance as you change speeds and shift gears-just like riding outside.

So I was going through the youtube videos and amazon comments for the first generation, and it seemed like the focus was on how to assemble the KRM2, and it didn't look too challenging. My concern was, will my bike fit the skewer and the KRM2 itself? I don't have a fancy race bike, I have a Raleigh Venture (what's called a comfort bike). Not only did the skewer fit, it was the exact same skewer that was already mounted on my bike. I changed it anyways, and that was easy.
This KRM2 came fully assembled. Pulled it out of the packaging, extended the legs, I backed out the roller a few turns, and put the bike into the skewer connections. It took a little fidgeting around to get the bike centered, but not much. Off I went.
I hope I don't get trolled for offering a positive review for something I was very impressed with, right out of the box. But you know how it goes on the internet.
Enter the Kinetic Road Machine Trainer. I've had this for over a month and have spent at least 20 hours on it total. things that I have observed:
+The unit is very well built. It's heavy and sturdy, just like you'd expect from an item this price
+The trainer came 100% fully assembled. All I had to do is replace the skewer on my bike with the one provided, screw in the mounting points, and set the resistance drum against the tire. Easy.
+The resistance feels really good. It increases as you pedal harder, so you can intensify your workout just by switching gears. Just like you can outside.
-More of a recommendation than a con. I can see some of the tread on my back tire wearing off. For a few extra bucks you can buy a tire made by the same company specially suited for resistance training. Kinetic Trainer Tire, 700 x 25, Green
Lastly, something that I was really curious about before I purchased. My road bike (Giant Propel) feels much better IMO than your run-of-the-mill stationary bike at the gym. If you're looking for something to keep you in shape until riding season, look no further!
