    This pastry brush works great!. I don't like those rubber brushes for basting because they don't hold the liquid you are using as well. This thing works perfectly. The bristles seem to be snug because I haven't lost any yet like some brushes I have used in the past. If you need a pastry brush then this one is for you.

    King Arthur always produces high quality baking tools, and this pastry brush is no exception. The brush is wide enough to make quick work of brushing egg wash over bread or pie crusts. The bristles are dense to hold a good amount of liquid without it dribbling all over the way silicone brushes do. It is just a wee bit firm for a delicate bread dough, but I would still prefer this brush over a silicone brush.

    The most important aspect of a pastry brush is whether it sheds bristles onto your baked goods. I used it to brush oil on homemade mushu pancakes, and only one bristle came loose in the course of making 16 pancakes - that's pretty good.

    Look, if you know baking, then you know King Arthur. They release kitchen tools infrequently, and these tools are always baking-specific and made BY bakers FOR bakers. This is why, having a former professional baker as a spouse, I am excited to get any sort of high quality baking accoutrements.

    We've been suffering with one of those silicone pastry brushes for months. They're easy to clean, sure, but their coverage is -- gloopy -- and they make more of a mess than you'd think. This boar-bristle brush is sturdy enough to stand up to frequent use and while not as easy to clean as a silicone one, performs in a FAR superior fashion. I would consider this a must-have for a baking arsenal.

    Very nice quality brush!

    The handle has a nice weight to it.

    Soaking in hot soapy water for a while, makes cleaning a breeze.

    Air dry and shake back to shape.

    The King Arthur pastry brush is better than a hardware store cheapo paint brush for 2 reasons: 1) it's dishwasher safe, and 2) it has about twice as many bristles for the same width.
    In other words, it will do a better job spreading your egg wash and butter, and you can use it a whole lot more times.

    This pastry brush is really nice quality. It works really well for “painting” butter, eggs, water, etc, on different foods or pastries. It’s really nice to have on hand for baking. The handle is nice and solid and won’t break easily at all. The bristles are also really nice and they don’t shed.
