Not for noobs. Cuts solid wood like butter!
If you're not used to using a grinder be very careful with this. I normally use my angle grinder for tile and the blade is a diamond cut blade which will burn a small cut into you but this thing is dangerous. It was packaged with the two discs pointing outward and I didn't realize at first that I had to cup the top one inward so that the nut could screw on my Nikita. I also had to flip the nut over so it held the top disc in place properly. This thing cuts through wood like butter. Keep in mind it's only a 4. 5 inch disc so you're not using it to chop wood lol. I'm using it to make a large wooden spoon and it's working great. Also I accidentally put the chain on backwards and all it did was burn the wood. So if you think it doesn't cut then check the manual and flip the chain. It comes in 3 parts. The two discs and the chain. So when u put it on your grinder you're best off resting the first disc on then carefully laying out the chain around it (it's easy to do just be sure it is slotted properly). Also in my pic I don't have a guard on which is dangerous as well. Using a tile disc I like to see what I'm doing lol. But I'll probably put it on after thinking about what would happen if the chain broke lolIt's a fantastic product and I would definitely recommend it.

If you can use a chainsaw to carve or turn with a lathe, this is a great addition to your power carving tools. I usually use a chain saw to carve out large bowls, end grain and long grain. The photo is of a red maple end grain bowl that I roughed out with a chain saw in about 30 to 40 minutes and smoothed with this tool in less than 10 minutes. A practiced hand leaves a finish with minimal tool marks. This 14" bowl (8" deep) needs little sanding to finish. I carve an end grain bowl into each end of a short log and then measure and cut the log about 1" from the bottom of each bowl leaving me with two bowls from each short log. It's easier to cut the bowls from a heavy log because it negates the need for clamping and a short log at about 28" (anvil height) is just the right height for using this tool. Enjoy and be safe.

This thing is awesome! My builder obviously had no clue what he was doing. I took up carpet to install hardwood floors and not one floor was level. This tends to lead to lots of peaks where the plywood meets. I rented a floor sander and spent hours trying to knock the peaks down some.. but then I found this little gem. Man, let me tell you..this thing is awesome! It makes a mess, but it is well worth the money. If you are on the fence because it looks scary, don't hesitate, it works and is very easy to use. I thought it would dig right in to the floor, but it didn't. It's very easy to control. I'm definitely glad I purchased this, I only wish I had done so sooner.
