About this item

  • LANCELOT - King Arthur’s Tools award winning 4” Lancelot 22 tooth chainsaw disc blades are efficient, versatile and highly maneuverable, leaving the smoothest finish to go with its rapid devouring of wood. Great for professional and amateur woodworkers, wood carvers and sculptors.
  • MULTIFUNCTION - Convert your angle grinder into a wood cutting saw, excellent for rapid wood removal, cutting, and general shaping. Cuts everything from hardwood, plastics and other soft non-ferrous materials. You can use up to seven different tandem blade combinations when paired together.
  • TECHNOLOGY - Our blades are made of premium quality steel to maximize strength, making it virtually unbreakable even under aggressive use. All our full house design blades have twice the amount of regular teeth resulting in the blade powering its way through the hardest of woods.
  • SAFETY - Should the blade hit a nail or piece of wire in wood, the impact will cause the chain to stop while the discs rotate giving the user a warning to stop the angle grinder. This is a major safety feature which virtually eliminates kickback and binding.
  • VALUE - All Teeth can be easily sharpened with a standard 5/32" (4mm) file to provide an extremely long service life for big woodworking projects. The chain saw blade can be easily replaced with our King Arthur’s Tools replacement parts.

Sir Lancelot to the rescue!

Sir Lancelot to the rescue!
Received my 14 tooth Lancelot yesterday and immediately put it to the test to remove a tree stump where I have to dig for a footing for my deck. The footing is beneath a concrete patio and I had the concrete cored to gain access to excavate for my footing, only to find a tree stump directly where the footing is to go. After extensive research for options, I came across the King Arthur Lancelot. Let me tell you, this thing is fabulous! It's like putting a hot knife to butter. I cored out about 6 inches of the stump and finally hit pay dirt, actual earth under the stump. I am not finished as it was getting late, but in about one hour, I had produced about 8 gallons of sawdust, collected in my 16 gallon Shop Vac. I purchased two to run in tandem, but found that my shaft on my Bostich grinder from Walmart was too short to accept two, oh well, I have a backup Lancelot. Buy it, read and follow all safety rules, this thing is to be treated with respect, failure to do so could result in serious injury.

I needed to shape some timbers for a boating project and found that this was just the tool to do the job with out a lot of fooling around. Handles very nicely and removes wood at a good clip. As it behaves differently at different angles of attack it is worth the time to practice on well secured scraps till you find your technique.
The instructions are well worth reading, especially if you like to keep all your bits and pieces where they belong. This tool deserves at least as much respect as a chain saw, maybe more as it runs much faster and people can get casual with right angle grinders. I have seen more than one person set a grinder down while still spinning, this one won't be forgiving! Pay particular attention to the guard on your grinder and how it is set according to the instructions.
Chips fly a good distance, make sure you are wearing good protective gear including face mask, ear plugs and goggles, not just safety glasses. And be sure those around you are protected with goggles, etc.
Very pleased with the results using my 4 1/2" Milwaukee grinder, would suggest getting a spare chain if you are doing lots of production work or need to switch to a finer tooth pattern.
Worth the money!

I purchased this to shape raw wood into bowls and trays. I have been happy with the results, the cut is fast and reasonably smooth. Use a light touch, as this removes a lot of material in a hurry. (As always, with noisy power tools, eye and ear protection is a must.) The teeth are easy to sharpen with ordinary chainsaw sharpening tools. For a finer finish, I am going to next try one of the sanding wheels. You'll want to figure out a system to fasten the wood being carved to a fixed point. You want two hands on the tool for control and safety, and unless you are carving a tree trunk, the wood can get tossed around. I like to use my Black and Decker workmate, which I can take outside and let the chips fall where they may. It's hard to devise a good chip collection system for this tool as you are moving around quite a bit and the chips shoot out in all directions.

Purchased to help remove a portion of rotten log on my log home. Needed to scoop out old material and remove the log completely for replacement. This tool did a fine job. Once you get the hang of how it feels and moves, it makes quick work of carving wood. I guess many purchase this for wood carving but for me it was a special use item and it fit the bill perfectly. It's a bit of a pain to put the pieces back together (the red plastic plug that holds all the parts together was quickly lost on the job-site - my problem not the manufacturer's). Keep that plug and put it back in the center when the tool is not attached to your grinder. Otherwise, the chain and the two discs will quickly fall apart. My bad. Great tool. Works just like the tip of a chain saw but with more accuracy when used with a 4" grinder.

That manly joy you get out of operating a chainsaw? Yeah, now in a handheld size! This thing is serious about hogging and hollowing out stumps. I've seen a lot of woodworkers posting images of live edges bowls with odd depths and shapes, wondering what skills or unprecedented lathe they had. Or, if they were completely doing them by hand with an adze, yet somehow selling them under $100 and NOT from overseas. Answer, this little guy. Pop him on an angle grinder and watch him go. Works great, HOWEVER...this sucker is dangerous. Make sure you're wearing a full face shield and a guarded grinder and take it slow. One odd angle or errant cut and it'll hop out of your piece. After 30 minutes or so of using it you'll become more confident and capable, but do not take this guy for granted. He'll save you a ton of time and give you a dremel on steroids, or wreck a bunch of wood and you if not careful.

Shreds wood faster than any other grinder. Shreds meat too. Respect this like a chainsaw. You need to understand what happens when the blade catches. You need to put the guard where KAT suggests. Don't lock the tool on. All that good stuff.

my wife loves white birch. i found a piece of white birch about 18" in diameter and about 20" high. we wanted to plant a flower in it that would kind of cascade over the sides as it grew. the only way other than by hand (hammer and chisel + lots of labor) was to somehow hollow out a portion with a chainsaw which didn't sound like a very safe operation for me. i knew i had seen something like the Lancelot at craft shows where people made bears and such out of stumps and thought maybe that would be a safer alternative. well i searched the internet and came up with the Lancelot and purchased it. wet white birch can put this thing to work so i am hollowing and then drying a spell and will hollow some more. this is a handy tool for a lot of other projects also, so i am convinced i made a wise purchase with this one. it's easy to put on your angle grinder and easy to maneuver. you must always remember though that you have a mini chainsaw on your grinder and be safety conscious while using it. i would recommend this product to anyone who thinks they may have a need for a tool like this or who wants to do other types of wood carving on a large scale.

I have used my chain carver blade quite a bit now and while I first expected to only be using it for rough gouging and shaping, I've found that with a little experience and experimenting with finding the cutting characteristics of the blade you can achieve very light and precise fine work too.
As far as I can see this blades is the best of both worlds where fast removal of material or finer more precision cutting is needed...it excels at both.
A careful and smart operator can accomplish a lot with this little guy. It is a well made product with good balance and design.
