Like I said it was interesting but only because it was a new twist on a paranormal romance I haven’t read before. The doctor’s game made no sense to the story. The doctor did experiments on her patients that they didn’t agree to and was actively keeping a mated pair apart against her employers obvious plans to create a community. At the end the doctor felt relieved that the couple had gotten together because she didn’t have a secret anymore. I’m confused as to why the doctor would think that when the secret is still there!
There were also grammatical errors. They were minor but still annoying. I will continue with this series because I found the new paranormal twist interesting enough to see where it goes.
I'm also going to address another dislike so don't go any further if you don't want to read a spoiler!!!!!
The doctor....grrrrrr. With friends like her who needs enemy's? She had no problem lying to her "friend" and had no problem trying to manipulate the mating "affliction", having no clue what the results might be from her experimenting on her friend and her friends mate. Then as a reader we are left hanging. I was waiting for the fall out from what she had done and .... NOTHING, NADA, ZIP! This should not have been left hanging but should have been addressed in some way, shape or form before the ending.
END OF SPOILER***********************************
By the end of the book I was left feeling like I had not been given what I was expecting and what I paid for. It's very doubtful I will bother buying another book in this series. That's a shame as, like I said before, it had such potential.
One of Your Greatest Fans,
She was an interesting character that while seemingly professional but very off putting; taking the organic process to a different level when promoting pheromone based love and destined mates(my own phrasing here), but at the same time guarding herself. A double standard in practice? Hell yes and seriously off putting at times.
I’m getting off topic though...
This series works off the premise of destined mates or ‘Angels’ there is a mix of animistic alpha males and their counterparts which vary in attitudes, some badass, some balanced, and some more submissive than others.
The pairings are promoted via induction to the community the series is set in and the medical exams that are required; in this book: King, new head of security and Lily an executive assistant to Monroe, the leader and founder of the compound.
Now this is admittedly not my favorite in the series but it was a good introduction to the universe of the Skinwalkers and enough for me to continue on with the series and buy other books without hesitation.
Top reviews from other countries
As for the ML King, there's no continuity of character whatsoever, the FL, Lilly is a doormat. We are meant to believe that the all consuming mating call is in play yet he spends barely any time with her, there is absolutely zero sexual tension and the claiming scene is more like rape.
Then there is the whole concept of spending one night together where her uterus grows back thanks to his magic sperm and next morning she's pregnant and it shows in bloodwork straight away.
For gods sake, do some effin research before you write the book. Better yet, take a few writing classes and learn more about character development and hopefully plotting a decent storyline.
How anyone can award more than one star as a rating is beyond me and I'm only giving that because Amazon require a rating when leaving a review. Seriously, if I could delete it from my kindle I would.
This could have been a good story if the author had developed the characters more and included the action. I give this book a 2.5* as i dont think it deserves more.
I highly recommend this book and take it from me that is high praise indeed as I read at least 2 or more books every day, it takes a special writer and story for me to recommend a book to anyone.
