Dr. Walter Martin is known worldwide for his exhaustive and extensive studies on cults. This book is one on the OCcult, which is similar in the sense that it is still steeped in false, demonic religions and religious behaviors, all from the enemy of your soul, Satan. Here he does an excellent job of researching the occult and all its practices--things that you didn't even realize are part of the occult world, such as the "ok" hand sign, which is really part occult and part Masonic (which in itself is occultic anyway). He covers Ancient Paganism, the Kabbalah, the New Age--which is the latest, biggest thing going right now-the Psychic world, including Astrology (an old, anti-God practice), Satanic worship, Witchcraft, Demon Possession and several other topics.

This is the 2008 edition by Jill Martin Rische, the daughter of Dr. Walter Martin and her husband. It is about 2" thick and contains 733 pages.

It is well worth the money ($29.99 U.S.).

Fantastic book! I listen to Jan Markell's radio program every Saturday morning and Jill Martin Rische, who is the daughter of the late Walter Martin. is a co-host of the program. Eric Barger is also a co-host.
Listening to various programs about the occult got me interested in learning more about the different " religions " that people find fascinating enough to join. This book explains many occult phenomenon in a very understandable fashion.
You'll learn about ancient paganism, astrology, Eastern Mysticism, Satanism, Spiritual Warfare and MUCH more!
This is a large book, containing 733 pages, so I haven't read the entire book yet but you don't need to read it straight through, like a novel.
You can just go to the chapter that you're interested in.
I highly recommend this book to any Christian who is interested in learning more about the occult, it's dangers, why people are drawn to it and finally, how to evangelize those poor souls who are being deceived by Satan.

I have been a Born-again Christian most of my life, and all of my adult life. I was sheltered regarding occult belief systems until my late twenties. This book answered many of my questions, and has helped me to be more aware and wary of non-traditional "Christian" religions. This book was well worth the time and effort. I now know for what to look, and how to defend the Truth against lies.

I started reading the chapter on Eastern Mysticism and the New Age movement and it was exactly what my professor was promoting in World Religions class only he didn't use the term New Age. Page 153 states, "The core of New Age theology is the integration of all religions, practices, mythology, superstition, and the occult found in the world. It refuses to bow the knee and worship the biblical God of creation. The god of the New Age movement is Lucifer, light bearer, adversary, prince of darkness, who moves through religion, politics, and economies with one purpose in mind: integrate, unify, and then destroy. And the destruction is aimed at the church of Jesus Christ. When you see the theme of "unity in diversity" don't be fooled. Read this book!

This book is about the Occult. Deals with UFOs/UFO cults, Psychic Phenomena (Ghosts, haunting, ESP), Satanism, Paganism, Neo-Paganism, Witchcraft, tools of the occult (EVP, Ouija, tarot) etc.
The last section is on how to respond to those involved in the occultist practices and experiencing demonic psychic phenomena.

This book is an overview of these issues. If you've already read about and studied about issuing involving the paranormal, then you won't get much out of this book. The last chapters in this book would be most helpful to counselors and those working in a church. Also, I would recommend this book to Teachers, school counselors, even though it's a Christian centered book, it will give you an excellent resource for beginning to understand students that are involved into the occult.
