Mated to the Werewolf King by author Alena Des is the first book in the Kings series. I love this start to what promises to be an action packed paranormal series. There is great character connection in this book, I also loved the pace not too fast or slow.
Belle, her family wanted to send her away from the pack. She is not happy about it. She is rebellious, hates change, and she can keep her clothes on when she morphs from wolf to human. Her family wants her safe before her 18th birthday. She doesn’t know why though.
Okay then here is where the author loses me for a few we have Keith, Lasarus, and Tanon. All seem like prospective mates, but only twoish to one. It is all jumbled for me. But it eventually clears itself up. But that is also when we find out a huge plot twist.
I loved the naming of these chapters. I loved duel pov as well. Not so sure I love who Belle ends up with. Looking forward to more from this series in the future. I would say this, the blurb is nothing like the book, nor is the title anything to judge this book by. I think they both are pretty miss leading. Over all though an really good imaginative story.
This is one of those paranormal/fantasy romance stories that are lacking somewhat in certain areas but definitely make up for it in others- It makes you feel - engages your emotions
The world building is excellent - the characters had me laughing, crying and wanting to strangle them throughout the novel -
I really enjoyed how Des humanized the characters -
Keith is the King - all powerful, yada yada - but when it comes right down to the bare bones he is a man who truly loves his woman and it shows in his reactions and his choices
Belle is just got chit luck - That poor girl goes from one unwelcome situation to another, and everyone seems to have one surprise after another for her - and most of them, not the happy kind- I have to hand it to her though she handles each new "bump" head on and keeps her cool
I am really curious how some of the events turn out -

The action starts in chapter one and does not let up until the finish. In some parts, I would have liked the author to slow down so I could get to know the characters better (but that may be me as I like character driven books over action packed ones.)
Belle is young for her age, coming off shallow at times, is quick to anger, and full of bravado until any action takes place then turns meek and mild and describes the action from the sidelines. Belle’s insecurities seem to make her hate on every female and lust after every male- Gregory, Xavier, and King Keith in the first ten chapters.
Over all, the premise of the story is an interesting and imaginative take on the supernatural world. However, the characters whip-lash responses and default setting of anger or whining was something I found hard to deal with.
Those that love insta-attraction/ one-mate/ violent (against females) alpha-wolf tropes will enjoy this story. The shift into the rest of the supernatural world makes this a fun diversion from many overdone tropes of a lot of werewolf stories.
The story has wonderful worldbuilding and gets you so involved into the story before the cliffhanger ending that it will hook you into continuing on with the series. Definitely recommended for anyone who’s a fan of paranormal romance.
It had fantastic world building. You can tell a lot of creativity was poured into the myths beyond the romance. The plot had a lot going on for this genre, with twists and turns aplenty. I am curious to see what will happen next and have already started reading the next part.
