* The included 5/32" Allen key (except I didn't realize it was in "bag 1" with the largest machine screws, so I used my own).
* Philips head screw driver and pliers (for the screws with cap nuts (parts number 7).
* Cordless drill with Philips head screw driver bit for driving wood screws (#6)
For anyone who buys this, here is some advice on assembly:
First, although the instructions have three "steps" labeled 1, 2, and 3, the first step is actually a small box in the lower left, where you attach the angle brackets (8) to the shelf slides (9). There are three holes on each end of the slides - two round holes on either side of an oblong hole. I used the hole farthest from the end on the back end of the slides and then the oblong hold on the front end. That fit properly in "step 1" when I attached these to the side pieces.
Second, The only machine screws I tightened all the way when I first put them in were the #5 screws holding the slides to the frame. All the others should be put in and left just a little loose until everything is together. Then tighten them all up. Otherwise, getting the glass tabletop in will be a lot harder.
I hope that's helpful. The unit is quite sturdy and looks good. I think the wood screws holding the keyboard shelf in was a corner cut by the manufacturer but that being said, they should do fine. Finally, don't unpack this unless you have time to get it together and vacuum the area. There are going to be lots of little bits of polystyrene foam that you'll need to clean up when you're done.
I'm giving 4 stars only because for me it was a little trouble to assemble. When you are putting together the first few pieces, the illustrations are tiny and confusing. Don't screw anything too tightly because you're bound to be confused and you'll have to figure it out by trial and error. A little common sense doesn't hurt either. Most of the rest of it was easy to put together until I got to the keyboard shelf. I actually had to drill holes in order to fasten it to the sliders. Thankfully they had marked the spots where the holes needed to be drilled but I shouldn't have had to do it. Every other hole was pre-drilled.
Altogether, it only took about an hour and a half to assemble but the frustration factor made it seem longer. I would still buy this again as it looks great and is exactly what I needed. Just be prepared to put in a little work.
Update: Nov 2014.
It has been almost 3 years and I still love this desk. I am as pleased with it now as when I bought it originally with no new complaints except that the right shelf slider gets a little stuck and you have to really pull on it to get it to come out. You might not have this problem at all if you were to purchase one. It is not something, however, that a little WD40 couldn't easily get rid of. I've just been too lazy to do it.
My issues with this desk: 1) the glass is not black, it is clear - so it's not what I wanted and doesn't match what I have. The model number on the box matches the one in the Amazon description, but the Amazon description and photo specify black glass.
2) the rear end cap from one of the side metal arms is missing.
Very disappointing. We just spent two hours assembling the desk before unwrapping the glass.
Amazon does not have a way to replace just the pieces that are wrong/missing with this item.
I am becoming more and more convinced that vendors sell their defective/returned items through Amazon. This is my second defective item this week.from Amazon. I have no confidence that the replacement will be any different.
Assembly was not too complex, though it was necessary to align the keyboard tray portion exactly as I wanted to make it extend a little further out than may have been the original intend. The instructions are very simplistic, but are helpful to make sure you have all of the parts going in the right place.
My only real complaint about this desk is how annoying it was to get the parts out the box, along with the large number of sharp staples the secured the surrounding cardboard together. But, I won't reduce the rating of the product for that, given that it is understandable to have such sturdy, protective, packaging given the nature of the product and the distance it was shipped.

Assembly was simple enough, but MY GOD, is the keyboard tray a piece of garbage. Don't plan on moving it in and out often, as the tray rails are the cheapest I've ever encountered, and the fit/finish doesn't allow for anything remotely resembling smooth movement.
Once assembled, it's sturdier than I expected it would be, but that may be because I used a hex head screwdriver on the bolts instead of the provided Allan wrench.
All told, if you absolutely need a glass top desk, but are operating on a budget, this is exactly that. However, if I could make the choice again, I'd spend a little more for something higher quality.
The keyboard tray is nice and wide, but the tracks are rough/not smooth and one side seems obstructed and won't come out more than a few inches, despite nothing obstructing the pathway.
Large enough desktop to hold two 24 inch monitors, but 27inch monitors would definitely not fit.
