This guy could've been my husband--such a sweet and loving nerd--they really make the best boyfriends/ husbands! You can't help falling in love with Ethan as you read this sweet story. My hubby would totally have promised to "make each day an adventure and raise our children to be geeks just like us."
This is my first book by Donna Weaver, but it won't be my last.
Donna K. Weaver made it fun to find the Harry Potter references throughout her tale. Anyone who is a fangirl to fantasy, sci-fi, or the comics will love this sweet romance—because romance can happen anywhere, even at a theme park for wizards. She continues to build on the great characters she had previously introduced in her Safe Harbor Series. While Kings Crossed Lovers can stand alone as a great story, knowing a little of the backstory of the characters adds to the enjoyment of the read.
Ethan and Samantha are strong, convincing, relatable characters—intelligent and focused on the outside, driven by their geekdom on the inside, and grappling with two different antagonists that end up driving them together by the end.
The antagonists were realistic—a controlling parent and the mental anguish of not being good enough. It was easy to bond with our heroes right from the start and then root for them to overcome their demons and find happiness with each other.
Family is important to Weaver—all her stories show how love of family is vital to the climax, and King’s Crossed Lovers is no exception. If you grew up with a big family, you’ll love how Weaver ties in family bonds; if you didn’t, you’ll wish you had.
Sweet romance is not my favorite genre because it feels too cliché. But I’m first in line to read Weaver’s books because she goes beyond expectations. Her characters are more than fictional, and the situations and stories she creates are more than fantasy. She makes you want to be a part of her world. ~ Nanette O’Neal, author of A Doorway Back to Forever series.
