I love classic literature, and each chapter of the book starts with quotes from some of the best, as well as many other sources. It is a truly classic story, a great sleeper I wish everyone in the world could know about and I dearly wish they would make movies from them (or maybe not, sometimes great books get ruined this way). I think non-sci-fi fans would love these as well because the story is so much more.
It takes place in what I like to think of as a future many hundreds if not thousands of years from now, earth has nothing to do with the plot but some small references connect it to home. When I was younger I found myself relating to young Dion, in his true coming of age story. Now here I am many years later at 32, learning to find a connection to the other two leads in the story, star crossed lovers who find that the fear and anger that separated them 17 years before, may separate them again.
Honestly I can't do these books justice, it's an epic story with battles, politics, love, deception, friendship, and philosophy all thrown into one and it's splendid. Just read the first few chapters, I promise you won't wan to stop reading!
Dion becomes involved with the leader of an ancient priesthood from the Order of Dark Lightning. He trusts the man will take him straight to the throne, but Abdiel has plans of his own. Sagan and Maigrey must use everything they've been given to overcome Abdiel and bring Dion safely back to reality.
A whole new group of wonderful characters emerge in this book. Bear Olefsky, a mountain of a man and an ally of Sagan's, Snaga, the brilliant weapons manufacturer, a vapor breather, and an Amazon woman warrior and leader of a powerful plant. Sagan and Maigrey must use all the players in order to bring Dion closer to the throne.
A great tale continued with this book...

Very good plot lines, easy to follow. Has unexpected twists at times. Characters seem a bit naive though, making rather unrealistic decisions. Overall quite entertaining.Published 23 months ago by Bruce Edward

The plot is well woven, without weak add-ins to try to resolve issues. Complex characters as well as sterotypes and archetypes.Published on June 7, 2013 by Amazon Customer
