I have my Q9650 overclocked to 4.0ghz with these modules installed.
Definitely some of the best 2GB DDR2 modules you're going to find lingering around. I was previously using 4x 1GB OCZ reapers, and these are just as fast, while placing less stress on the nforce chip on my motherboard due to the 2 DIMMs instead of 4.
They don't look too bad either, but I prefer black PCB instead of green for my computer parts, but that's just being picky.
For comparison/compatibility, I run:
PNY gtx 580
4GB kingston HyperX RAM
This is very compatable ram, do not have to set 1066ghz does it for you.
Great coolling, as you can see on the photo the fins keep it 7 degrees cooler!
The Ram is fantastic!
- First, they were the closest match to the memory I already had.
- Second, my memory cooler could only handle the two sticks I already had, so when I saw these with their tall heatsinks, I thought "hmmmm..... these are basically the same thing I have, but with heatsinks that stick out beyond the memory cooler for the existing sticks... maybe I won't have to modify my exisiting setup!"
And, they worked perfectly. It turned out, underneath those massive heatsinks, they were the exact same thing I already had. And, they did indeed fit in the slots between the existing sticks without changing the setup of the contact plates on the memory cooler. With the tall heatsinks sticking up into the airflow, they stay cool enough I didn't need to change the existing cooling setup.
Weeks later I find myself in need of an upgrade as well, so I decide to go with these particular modules. I installed into my system, and my motherboard (another Gigabyte product) doesn't recognize it as 1066 memory. So I go into settings, and change a bunch of things, but I can't for the life of me make the board boot with the 1066 settings.
So they work for me at 800 mhz, but your mileage will vary depending on your motherboard and BIOS options.
Everything accounted for, I am sufficiently satisfied with the purchase.

It's fast and reliable.
Runs as fast as my Asus M2N-E motherboard will let it run. Stable but haven't attempted overclocking yet.Published 21 months ago by Damon H.
