The performance seems to be within the advertised specs when using the ATTO benchmarks as a stand-alone drive, but that's where all the good news come to an end. When trying other utilities such as Crystal Disk benchmark, is a whole other story. The drive reads are still okay even though they are below the advertised specs, but the writes are abysmal at around 78MB/s. Thinking it was a glitch from the application, I tried the same benchmark on my already installed Intel SSD drive. To my surprise, the much older Intel SSD blew the Kingston drive away with both utilities and writes were always well above 300MB/s.

I gave it the benefit of the doubt, so I went ahead and configured it as a cache drive with Intel's RST as I originally intended. I got the same 78MB/s writes not just with the bench tools, but also by writing from my main SSD to the newly configured array. What's actually truly sad is that the mechanical drive can actually write faster than that by itself, effectively defeating the purpose of the drive to be used as a cache device since it will be recording incompressible data such as multiple OTA TV shows (this is a Media Center PC).

To add insult to the injury, I also have an issue with this SSD where the HDD light on the computer now remains ON at all times, combined with my disappointment this is now an irritant and complete eyesore. Removing the Kingston SSD resolves this, and I can put back the old SanDisk mSATA drive without causing this new issue.

In a nutshell, I am sorely disappointed with Kingston and I am going to have Amazon issue me a full refund.

I chose this SSD because it was on Intel's published NUC compatibility list, and installed in an Intel Haswell NUC D34010WYK. It's fast and there are no compatibility issues. Price could be lower for the capacity, but at least it's made in Taiwan instead of China, and carries a 3-year warranty.

I used the inexpensive Syba mSATA adapter from Amazon (SY-ADA40050) to image the drive before installation in the NUC, and that worked fine. It's handy to have an mSATA adapter handy if you need to access one of these drives from a conventional PC.

The Kingston packaging is teeny-tiny, no bigger than the SSD itself, so careful, it can get lost in the packaging material.

I have about 200 of these installed in Intel NUCs for digital signage around the world. The oldest ones (most of them) are over 2 years old. The newest just a couple weeks old. These run 24/7 and many are in hot, dirty environments. We've had maybe 2 units fail. That's solid by my standards.

VERY false clams.
Computer tested hardware on i7 / 32gb ram Dell m4800 and along with 1u whitebox. This drive was intended to be used in some 1u servers because of the size but with the conversion kit it no longer fit, instead i placed it in my laptop and will use it as secondary hard drive. First off the fall way far off what the manufacturer states they can do the writes are nicer but still not as fast as i was looking for hence the low rating.

Over 20 tests done.

There aren't quite as many mSATA cards anymore, and all I needed this for was a second drive on a media PC (I boot to linux some times and windows at others), so I really looked for the first reasonably priced drive from a vendor I trusted. Kingston fit the bill, and while this won't give a Sumsung 950 or Intel 750 a run for the money, it's a solid and legit SSD. It's a bit older in tech, which is good news (newer 128gb drives use fewer chips and don't get the bump in speed from parallelism).

I can't say I'd recommend this over a Samsung or other respected brand, but I cannot say there's anything wrong with this. I'd have no reservations getting this again.

This worked perfectly in my new fit-PC4. It comes empty: no partition table even, but it's easy and quick to format any way you like with gparted. I created one partition and loaded it with Linux Mint 17.2, and Linux only used about 4GB of space, so I have lots of space for other things. I've bought Kingston memory products for over a decade, and never once had a problem with any of them. That made me willing to pay a little more to be sure I was getting the best, and I wasn't disappointed.

This SSD works great with older PowerBook G4s and PowerPC Macs with a mSATA to IDE converter. While older versions of OS X does not have TRIM support, this SSD uses a Sandforce controller, which doesn't cause problems with sleep problems like other SSDS that feature the JMicron controller.

With the SSD installed, the PowerBook G4 Titanium boots very fast and applications launch in a few seconds, although speeds are limited to 66 mbps.

If you looking to breathe new life to your old laptop that only use IDE, I would definitely recommend this mSATA SSD with a use of a converter opposed to relying on the limited selection of IDE/PATA SSDs.
