Hi,I received the SDD 1 day quicker than expected. The installation was very easy (see my pics). I also had a hidden partition which was no problem for the software to copy. I was afraid that it won't be recognised (my original WinXP is stored there).I also took advantage of mail-in-rebate so I (will) get back $60!!!After installation WinXP starts much quicker and I only hear the fan - unfortunately.I'm going to install a AHCI driver to get much more better performance.Today I read at tomshardware.de it is recommended that you have at least a Core 2 Duo and 2 GB RAM to get full advantage of a SSD. Fortunately I fulfill this recommendation. Thus: 5 stars up!CheersHelmut

Seemed like a great price after the rebate it was less than $200. Nice packaging, easy to install and the external drive case made it a snap to move files around. I was upgrading from WinXP to Win7 so I had to do a painfull install of the OS and all my standard apps like Office and Visual Studio along with all the service packs and updates. Anyone who has does this knows it is a long process. For the first severl days I was thrilled how quickly it booted, how fast programs ran and in general how nice my computer (Dell E6500 Latitide) was to use. On the 8th or 9th day I shut it down after work (lightning fast shut downs too) and went home. When I got home nothing...I mean nothing. The BIOS did not even see the drive. Tried Windows recovery. Tried the old spinning drive on XP back in the computer with the SSD in the external case...nothing. Called tech support (good luck finding the number) they were less than helpfull. Standard answer is send the drive back for a new one. That is all well and good except I make my living as a consultant and with no computer I can't bill any hours. Got a new drive and started all over. Lots days of billable work, not to mention the frustration of the install of OS etc a second time in two weeks. Who knows what happens with my client's data with the drive going back to Kingston.

I purchased a Dell Alienware computer and only had a 100gb drive in it. It is really a game machine but I use it for digital video. Needless to say the 100gb filled up quickly and it was always frustrating deleting files to make space.

I saw this Kingston drive on Amazon at a very good price with a $75 rebate to boot. After three days the drive arrived today at noon. I set it up to clone my C: drive which took one hour and six minutes. Once the cloning was finished the Kingston drive was installed in the HDD0 slot.

The cloning process brought everything across without a hitch. System boots exactly as with the original drive. Which has been installed in the HDD1 slot, formatted, and awaiting files!

So I'm very happy with the product thus far and would highly recommend this drive.

Installation was easy. The instructions were easy to follow. There is a noticeably decrease in boot time. I was a little worried about the crash problems. But the rebate made it worth giving it a shot. I am extremely happy so far (just one day).

Update:
I've had this hard drive almost a year now. Chkdsk runs about 2-3 times a month. I get a blue screen once or twice a month. I've lost some data due to file corruption. I backup more frequently because I'm afraid it may crap out completely one day.
I don't think I would buy this again. I'm thinking of switching back to standard hard drive.

Have this Kingston SSDNow V100 installed in my 2008 MAC PRO INTEL has sata 2 controller. did not see any improvement at all compare to my Western Digital 7200 rpm 64mb 1.5 tb Black Label sata 2 3.0 gb/s.

The hardware is great. Works as advertised. Increases speed about 10-20%. Quiet and durable. Like having the old drive as a backup. The only problem is the cloning software. It did not clone the D drive partition with enough vacant memory. I got warning messages constantly because of the limited memory. Had to turn the warning off by a special fix. Don't know how this will affect future Restores or if I have to use the partition for a restore. Not possible to shift spare memory from C to D drives because of different formats. Customer support was of no use. They even said that the software wouldn't copy the D drive but it did. If you don't have a partition, it will work great.

I purchased the drive for my MacBook Pro (Core i7). Installation was a breeze. The performance improvement was significant compared to the 7200 RPM drive that came with the MBP.

However, the drive has failed three times already and it's only 42 days old. Each time, the Apple Disk Utility was not able to repair and required a full re-format/re-partition of the drive. Thanks to a good set of backup from Time Machine, I can usually get it back running in about 3 hours or so.

As this is my primary computer, this repeated failure is unacceptable. If you don't regularly backup your computer or need a reliable computer, STAY AWAY from this drive.

I've already opened a RMA with Kingston, so hopefully a replacement drive will be better. However, from reading other complaints, I doubt it.

Update:
I got an advanced exchange RMA from Kingston. After just over two weeks of using the new drive, I had to go through the Reformat/Re-partition fun again. Either these drives are not compatible with the Core i7 MBP and Kingston doesn't tell me about it... or they're just awfully UNRELIABLE! Definitely stay away!!!

It was good in the period it worked, suddenly stop working without any warning !!!! Now I just use the SSD as a boot drive, all my data in the common HD. All tests indicate the drive was ok, but stopped without any possibility of access.
