I have been running with this RAM in my MacBook Pro 17 (Summer 2009) for over 6 weeks. Not one lockup/freeze or problem of any kind. Programs are faster in general and I don't worry about closing applications any more. Apple computers through the years have been extremely finicky about RAM quality. I can't recommend these SO-DIMM's high enough. I put my old factory 2GB sticks for the MacBook Pro 17 into my wife's new MacBook 13. That worked perfectly..

These two 4GB SO-DIMM sticks cost $1200 from Apple directly. Spoil yourself and don't feel guilty about buying them here for much less -- especially if you use Parallels Desktop, or VMWare. Kingston will back you up, Amazon will also.

I purchased a 2010 model mac mini with only 2GB memory knowing that eventually I would upgrade the memory. After about 6 months, I found the computer lagging when using iphoto, photoshop and powerpoint at the same time (which I do often). I looked into the memory upgrade. Apple wanted $600 for 8GB memory but I found these Kingstons for under $100 on Amazon. They arrived within a day, installed within 5 minutes and when I booted up my mac it immediately recognized the memory and had improved productivity. I now can work with all of my memory eating applications open without problem, and I've noticed great improvement in web surfing and just general use of the computer. I am VERY pleased!

Although the specs claim that you can upgrade only up to 4 GB ( 2 GB in each slot), this 8 GB RAM works great in my MacBook ( not just the PRO version- this is the regular Whilte polycarb Unibody version). Makes a distinct difference vs. the 2 GB standard that came with my MacBook. I had found several references to its compatibility with a MacBook Pro, however no one had verified this to work with just a MacBook. The specs for a 13' Macbook pro and Macbook were almost the same except for the aluminium unibody vs the polycarbonate, and this worked with the MacBook without any problems.
Installing the 8 GB RAM was a 10 minute task. It took some time to dig up the right precision screwdriver bit. First shutdown the Macbook then remove the 8 screws to expose the RAM. Discharge static electricity and then remove the existing RAM ( follow instructions given in the 'Everything MAC' manual if needed) . Plug in the new RAM and fix back the screws. Boot back up..Go to MAC>About this Mac, to see the 8 GB in action,..

The Macbook is much faster now. All apps , from Google Chrome to XCode run quite smoothly.

I upgraded my macbook to Lion right when it came out and I got blasted with the rainbow pinwheel of doom right away when opening and working in just about anything. Finally I found the Lion is a RAM guzzler. And like how you treat anyone with an addiction, I went out can just got this lion more of what he wanted.

I have 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008, Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74), Model Identifier: MacBook5,1, Boot ROM Version: MB51.007D.B03 --- From what I've read, this last piece of info is super important or the computer won't take all 8GB of RAM. Something about a special secret firmware update...

I include all that because as I was searching for RAM for my molassassized Macbook, it was super confusing to me to know which was the "right" RAM for my computer and I would have hated to mess that up. Hardly any reviews had this, so here, dear shopper, is the info you need. Look in the System Profiler and make sure you have Model Macbook 5,1 and Boot ROM Version: MB51.007D.B03 -- not that other macbooks and the like can't use this RAM, but I'm typing on one that can and does. So I hope that helps.

Apple sells their RAM for $200 for 4GB. I'm sure it's like the Prada of RAM or something, but I just need a larger canvas bag -- nothing fancy, just MORE!! So I went searching and found that the Kingston RAM works awesome for around $50 and for TWICE the RAM. The installation was easy. Almost so easy it didn't need any instructions (but I searched Apple's support page for how to install RAM in macbook and followed those instructions).

10 min later (most of it oooooing and aaaahhing over all the pretty circuit boards) I rebooted with FOUR TIMES the RAM. While the beachball of death still lives, it don't have to live with it as much.

My RAMaholic Lion running macbook is finally satiated.

I have an early 2009 24" iMac currently running Lion and between the operating system and some of the newer programs I've been running my system was just running out of resources. I had been operating with the original factory 4 gigs of RAM since I bought the computer and had been wanting to upgrade for quite a while, however with the price of RAM what it was I had problems justifying the purchase. That is until the price of this RAM fell beneath $50.

When the RAM arrived in the mail it was packaged quite well. I was concerned at first seeing that it was small profile RAM, the kind you put in a laptop. But, I double checked online resources and they said this was in fact the same kind of RAM that my iMac used. I powered down my Mac, unscrewed the small panel at the base of the unit and pulled the small plastic strips by each RAM module and they popped out very easily. Inserting these modules went very smoothly, I screwed the plate back in place and powered up. The first boot after installing the new RAM modules took a lot longer than normal, I assume the system was validating the integrity of the new memory modules on this first boot with them. Reboots since then have gone a lot faster.

After firing up my machine with the new RAM everything has run a lot smoother with a lot less memory paging going on. Definitely worth the investment to get more life out of this wonderful machine. While I'm still itching for a new computer, I am a techie after all, I will now be able to push that itch off for a bit longer.
