Since these are non sd hc they won't have a problem in most older hardware, and these (2gb) will probably be the largest size you can currently find that are not sd hc.
The write speeds on some of these as sometimes up par to a class 4 card , some fall short of this but overall i wouldn't say they are too slow but this varies on your opinion of class 4 cards.
I bought them to use on older cameras and other older hardware which wouldn't work with sd hc cards, and so far i hadn't had a problem.
These are about 1.83 gb, and anyone who has owned anything computer related knows that everything loses space after format , i just state this now for ''those'' people who refuse to get with the ''program''.
It is absolutely insane how much memory can be packed into small black packages these days. Micro is in, mini, for now, is out, and we, the consumer are all the better for it.
When I purchased my Motorola Moto Q 9h Smartphone it didn't come with a memory card, but there was a slot for one; namely a MicroSD memory card, denomination of your choice. I chose 2GB in the form of a "Kingston MicroSD (Secure Digital) Memory Card."
The "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" offers large data storage in an extremely small package. The "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" ships with an easy to use adapter you can use to convert it to a full-sized SD card.
As I stated from the outset the "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" is remarkably small (less than an inch long), high capacity black and gray Micro Secure Digital Media Card with a storage capacity of 2.0GB (about 1.88GB after formatting). The MicroSD fit securely inside of the adapter, which in turn slips easily inside an available SD media card slot.
There are no drivers to install, and the card is compatible with both Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X.
First Impressions:
I love this little MicroSD Card! Light, almost too light the "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" fits easily into my breast pocket, or one of the numerous side and or interior pockets in my laptop case, when it not in my Moto Q 9h of course.
The "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" is easy to use, and as I pointed out above, the drive is designed for the Windows 2000 (SP3 & SP4), Windows XP (SP1 and above)/Vista (Ready Boost no supported) and Mac X Operating Systems (OS). Windows NT/95/98/98SE/Me are not supported. Both Windows XP and Mac X OS's have the ability to automatically recognize new hardware via plug-n-play technologies. There is no software to install.
Once inserted into an available USB port, the "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" automatically sets itself up as a removable drive, and as such is accessible just as any hard drive or a CD/ROM drive. File transfers are quick and painless via any SD Media Card slot, and I have experienced no file corruption to date, nor do I expect any.
Be advised, that if you have a preponderance of mapped drives already on your computer, as I do, Windows XP may not assign your removable media the next open drive letter; this happen to me. If you insert the "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card" and get the message that new hardware has been found and is now available for use, but the device is not assigned a drive letter, you must go to Control Panel /Administrative Tools/ Computer Manager/ Disk Manager, to manually assign the drive letter.
I routinely transfers files from my laptop computer to my Moto Q 9h via the Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card; mostly music. And because the memory in the Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card is none-volatile, once removed from the memory card slot, your files follow you wherever you go. Nothing could be simpler; nothing could be easier; nothing could be more advanced!
Conclusion
I couldn't ask for a better product then the "Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card." Small, lightweight and extremely utilitarian, the Kingston 2GB MicroSD Card is my new my new best friend. If you need a small, versatile, hi-speed, large capacity MicroSD storage device, look no further then the 2GB MicroSD Card by Kingston.
Reviewing similar memory on-line, I ran across some concerns. For $10 it was worth the risk, and none of the concerns turned into problems for this model. Specifically:
- This device is the right physical size. Other micro-SD cards reviewed have been just a hair too wide or thick to fit in some devices.
- This device is fast enough. It is possible to pay higher prices for faster micro-SD cards, but not necessary at least for phone, music, and picture storage. The phone using this device updates instantly from the PC, so there are no speed problems in that regard either. I could imagine digital video cameras needing to write large memory blocks quickly to a card like this, but for typical applications this card has all the performance one needs.
- The 2GB size is large enough. Yes, more size means more storage for even more music and pictures. For most people, it's not worth the price. I went from barely usable capabilities to a full-featured phone (and happy teenage daughter!) by spending under $10 for this micro-SD card. I could have spent $40 for twice the capacity, but it wouldn't have made much difference. Instead of adding massive storage to a phone device, anyone wanting large storage for pictures and music should consider an 80GB Zune or other MP3/iPod device built primarily for the purpose of quality music and perhaps pictures. A phone or camera needs *enough* add-in memory, but not massive amounts.
Enough preaching on usage. The bottom line is that this Kingston 2GB micro-SD card really is everything you expect from a name-brand leader in the memory market. The 2GB modeal in particular comes at a terrific price. Coming from Amazon, you also get free shipping and their great return policy.

Full sized 2 gigabyte cards are hard to find and becoming expensive, along with other "last century" stuff like CD's.
So this nifty item manages to cover the bases for me on price, performance, and the ability to use it as an emergency spare in micro sd equipped products.
BTW, my first hard disk was 8 megabytes capacity. Those were the days.
