Aside from that, it does what it says on the tin (well, sort of). I don't use Bluetooth headphones with my PC any longer, so I can't comment on sound quality, but other devices (keyboards, cell phones, etc.) pair easily enough, don't drop connections, and appear to have the expected 30m range. Additionally, I've enjoyed Kinivo products I've used in the past and thought their build quality to be fair enough for the pricing.
This is the third desktop PC Bluetooth adapter I've owned. Over time, I've had to swap them out as the Bluetooth standard changes and devices improve. The first set of Bluetooth headphones I ever owned (despite being a rather uh, well-known brand) had horrendous audio quality and constant dropouts in the days of the older tech. I've been satisfied with the performance of the newer Bluetooth audio devices and the chips in my newer phones; I think we've really reached the point where 'cord cutting' headphones and data transfer between mobile/IoT/etc. is no longer an exercise in frustration (mostly).
Onto my issue: I purchased this dongle because it was Bluetooth 4.0 and says everywhere that it supports Low Energy or BLE. I use Windows Insider builds, and the 'Your Phone' app has been rolling out screen mirroring for Android devices. My phone is not compatible yet, but since it's a Pixel I imagined it was only a matter of time. The second requirement is a BLE capable adapter.
Well...the way Windows defines that and the marketing terms start to get a bit confusing there. As you can see from my screenshot, this does not support the BLE role, and is therefore not compatible. I imagine perhaps a BLE 4.1 or 4.2 device is required--unfortunately information is a bit slim as it seems most Windows Insiders able to use the feature are doing just fine with their Surface devices.
Also, if you visit the Broadcom website it assures you that there are no drivers required for Windows 10, it is indeed plug and play and you have Bluetooth. However, the drivers installed by default were version .750 from 2015. Windows Update didn't really do much about this, as much as it loves overwriting drivers for my other devices. The Windows Driver Catalog has version .1010 which are a full year newer and seem to offer a bit better performance, but I don't have any real metric of that. Updating drivers in this way (via extracting a .cab, installing a .inf, and manually loading them through Device Manager) isn't a major headache but probably not super intuitive for the average user.
TL;DR: Bluetooth Low Energy doesn't mean the same thing on a 4.0 device vs. 4.1 or 4.2. It appears some newer devices will begin to require 4.2 for full functionality, yet there doesn't seem to be much of a selection available at the moment. I wouldn't discourage you from buying this dongle if you need Bluetooth and it's not really a big expense anyway. It's just likely that you'll need something different before too long.

This had good reviews, but also a lot of bad reviews. Well I suffered what the bad reviews said.
First, installation was horrible.
1) I went ahead and let Windows find the drivers automatically when I plugged the adapter in.
2) Tried to connect headphones... NOTHING.
3) I went to Kininvo's website, installed those drivers.... NOTHING.
4) I finally used the CD and was able to get my headphones paired. So it works now right? WRONG! Bluetooth device wouldn't show up in Playback devices.
5) I go into Device Manager and update drivers. New drivers are found and I update.
6) Now bluetooth headphones are paired AND they show up in Playback devices. So it works right? WRONG!
7) Instead, I try to hit connect in the Bluetooth connection screen and it just goes from Disconnected --> Connecting --> Disconnected... all on repeat.
For some reason this adapter worked in under 5 minutes on Windows XP on a 10 year old laptop.
It's either Windows 7, this adapter's lack of drivers, or both.
UPDATE 12-22-15: Kinivo emailed me and gave me detailed steps to do in order to get the Bluetooth to work with my Kinivo BTH240 headphones. After following the steps, the adapter still could not connect to these headphones. I found an old bluetooth earpiece by Samsung to test out and it connected instantly. I emailed Kinivo back and waiting for an answer. The problem lies in one of the following:
1) Windows 7 compatibility issue
2) Compatibility issue specifically with Kinivo BTH240 headphones (since adapter worked with a Samsung ear piece)
3) However, BTH240 headphones connected with this adapter instantly using Windows XP
Still working on situation. Still will leave my review at 2/5 stars.
UPDATE 12-22-15: After several emails with Kinivo customer service (Brian W), I was able to make this work with Windows 7! I'm giving this product now 4/5 stars. I can't give it 5/5 simply because I never had so much trouble with a single piece of electronics in my life. For those having issues with Windows 7 here is generally what I did to resolve the problem from the first attempt to the last attempt:
1) Let Windows 7 find drivers and install automatically (didn't work)
2) Go to the website and install drivers manually (didn't work)
3) Remove all drivers and install from the CD (didn't work)
4) Go to Control Panel and hit Update Drivers and find there are even later drivers available than those on the website (didn't work)
5) At some point, the adapter installed and recognized the Kinivo BTH240 headphones but couldn't connect.
6) Troubleshooting: adapter/kinivo headphones worked fine in Windows XP --> adapter/samsung headset worked fine in Windows 7
7) Windows 7 recognized headphones since it wouldn't try to connect if my headphones were off (gave message)
8) Finally, I reset the headphones themselves (Kinivo BTH240) and removed the pairing on the computer
9) Turned headphones back on and paired with computer again.
10) Instant connection!!!!
4/5. Thanks Kinivo and Brian W!

The Kinivo BTD-400 is the best value Bluetooth 4.0 adapter I've ever used (I'm looking at you Belkin). Because it works better than any I have used before and if you follow the link to the drivers below, you can set it up and then forget about it.
If you are using Windows 10 or 11 you just let Windows install it for you. Do not use any software you may have been given with the adapter, but if you do have issues due to Windows updates (these things happen), here is the link to easily sort them.

I have not had any signal drops and my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones work flawlessly with them when gaming. I thought there may be some lag, but if there is, I can't notice it.
And for music, when streaming, it has not let me down.
For the price, the Kinivo BTD-400 is a bargain.
It will only work with OSX on computers that have the bluetooth 4.0 software already. Otherwise as I found out after ordering this you will have to Hack settings and:
Use Continuity with older Macs: Words of warning
For the Continuity Activation Tool to work it needs to hack a handful of system files and also disable driver signing. In other words, the overall security level of your Mac will be lowered a notch. This is arguably a minor concern, and a price worth paying bearing in mind the enhanced functionality you receive in return, but it needs to be noted.
Because of the system file hacks, you’ll need to reapply the hack whenever you update OS X. You should always ensure you have the latest version of the Continuity Activation Tool.
Something I am unwilling to do
This is a general rule of thumb and not specific to this item
So if you are on an older machine and perhaps wanting to get "Handoff" to work with you apple watch for instance, you may want to look elsewghere for a solution. (and then please tell me it)
Based on that, plus the lower than expected price, I ordered this.
It arrived promptly and was so easy to install and pair with the headphones (and a tablet and a phone). I'm using it with Windows 10, and I've tried it plugged in to both USB2.x and USB3 sockets. It's been working with no interruptions or upsets ever since I got it. Admittedly my use has been at close range so far, so I can't comment on the strength of signal and connection. But it does exactly what I'd hoped for. Very pleased indeed.
