The Kinivo HS420 Matrix is perfect for gaming & advanced home theater setups. It allows switching up to four HDMI inputs into two outputs, supports 3D & resolutions of up to 1080p. The two outputs can display different sources from different inputs simultaneously. It allows any input to be routed to any output or the same input to be routed to both outputs or any combination.
It has the ability of equalization & amplification to ensure HDMI signal's transmission through long cables run without degrading signal quality. It is the ultimate combination of 1x2 Splitter & 4X1 Switch. The heavy-duty cool metal enclosure protects the insides & keeps the unit cool by aiding in quick heat dissipation.
Power on the matrix and plug in the HDMI Input sources into the Matrix Input. Connect up to two display devices such as HDTVs or projectors to the Matrix output. Switch on all the inputs and outputs.
If there is only one active input, HS420 will automatically switch to the currently active input source & bypass ports without signal. If there are multiple active inputs, then you can select the input either using the IR remote or using select button on the switch. The HDMI signal from the selected input is passed through to the outputs.

8-20-13 My Kinivo recently went bad after about nine months. It completely stopped switching and none of the indicators worked, except for a blinking power indicator when ac power is applied. The seller, BlueRigger LLC, responded quickly with some troubleshooting tips, which didn't work in my situation. They shipped a new unit to me and it is working fine now. They were great to work with and I'm again happy with my Kinivo HS420 thanks to BlueRigger!
My set-up. I have two outputs: Projector + office/bedroom monitor. I currently have 3 inputs: amazon fire stick, XBOX, and laptop.
I will get the surprise con out of the way first:
- I did not think this would bother me when I saw it mentioned in someone else's review, but I realize now that it will. The remote for this is a pretty weak IR remote. You can switch output A, output B on the device but that is it, it looks like this would be pretty worthless without the remote.I guess I haven't used an IR remote in a long time, you really have to point right at the matrix to use it. This will be slightly annoying with my set up and limits placement of the matrix. Someone else mentions that this will work with a Harmony remote so I guess one is going on my shopping list.
The good: Everything works, I ran through each input on both outputs. switching outputs/inputs is relatively fast, it is intuitive enough that if I were to put labels on the back of the remote saying what A/B/1/2/3 are I can actually trust that my guests would get it. Everything looks good, sound is coming through at the right places, when I put the same input on both screens the audio syncs perfectly from both sets of speakers! (in both cases I am using stereo audio out from the display to external speakers). I haven't gamed yet on the laptop or xbox yet but nothing else is showing any lag, though I don't need high performance on this so my "great" might be someone else's unbearable.
I will start with the good:
Physically the unit is good. It looks good and the buttons have a nice feel. The led's are not too bright for a dark room. All the HDMI ports are high quality and yield a nice physical connection. I got the battery with the remote too.
Now for the bad:
Every time I switch away from a source and then back to it the matrix is not able to re-sync the input. For instance, "A" (cable) over to "C" (ps3) and then back to "A" (cable) all on output 1, the matrix will not sync back to A on the 2nd TV. It just sits there and flashes no sinal on a black screen. The only way to get the inputs to work again is to power cycle the matrix. This is not intermittent, it happens every time. It is also not cable related. I have tried several combinations of cables with the same result. Also TV 2 will change itself to another input. I have to turn off TV and push the button on the matrix to the correct input.
The remote control does not like to work unless your right in front of the matrix. Sometimes it does not work at all and I have tp push the button.
3 stars only because the audio works perfect and Blue Rigger and Amazon were fantastic to work with. I am returning this one and will be purchasing another model.
