Great beginning book on sexuality.

Super informative! I actually prefer this book as opposed to Masters and Johnson's. I feel like Kinsey was more inclusive in his research. Kinsey states there is a continuum in sexuality, with one end being very heterosexual and the other end being very homosexual, but he keeps it realistic in that he states most people tend to be in the middle of this continuum and that it really isn't an either/or dichotomy. As someone who graduated with a minor in Human Sexuality Studies, I appreciate how he doesn't keep the discussion of sexual orientation and sex differences on a black and white scale, but is open to exploring the gray areas of sexuality. It's refreshing compared to Freud's theory on sex difference.

Though a bit dated, much of the information is still useful today. It's an elightening and enjoyable read; I highly recommend it!

Would you believe that there is no mention of either Viagra or Cialis ? Did nothing happened over the past quarter of century that would have justified an updated version ?

This book has been selling on the Kinsey acquired reputation. It's totally outdated. Don't buy it !

とりあえず、この本は解説にあるとおり、「キンゼイ研究所のデータを駆使して、性の悩みに科学的に答えた最新の啓蒙書」であって、聞き取り・調査・分析が主体の「キンゼイ報告」ではありません。

いろいろな図書館に蔵書があるようなので、購入前に中身を確認してから買っても良いかもしれません。

This is an interesting - albeit rather dated - book. It written by a doctor, who has - for the Kinsey Institute - undertaken research on sexual knowledge and sexual behaviour in the USA. The book starts out with a presentation of data, concerning 'answers' given by a sample population on sex-related questions. The outcome of this questionnaire is clear: most people don't know a lot about sex ... And so the rest of the book seeks to address such a gap in popular knowledge by offering information and guidance on a huge range of topics - from pregnancy to STD's.

The aim of the book is to educate. It's written for the lay person, and can be easily understood by the average 14 year old. Given that it was written in the 1980's (and published in 1990) it's now not up to date ... so, for example, the section on HIV/Aids does not reflect recent developments in scientific knowledge.

As a book of general guidance on sex, aimed at young people looking to educate themselves, I would recommend this. It's well-written and fascinating.
