If you have a 3DS, buy this game. It is the most fun game ever.
I’ve played a wide variety of Nintendo games, and this one takes the cake in fun. It’s too much fun. It’s great for all ages too. Most of it is easy, but that’s kind of the point. You are this overpowered, little pink puffball who is going to save the world. It’s not supposed to be a huge challenge. If you want a challenge, there are plenty of ways to play this game in a challenging way, and beginners may struggle to complete the True Arena or get platinum ranks. It has something for everybody.
This game has a main Planet Robobot story mode, plus Team Kirby Clash, Kirby’s 3D Rumble, the Arena, the True Arena, and Meta Knightmare Returns. In my opinion, all of them are 10x as fun and awesome as their Kirby Triple Deluxe counterparts. I especially love being able to play as Meta Knight, to fight Meta Knight, and a special surprise at the end of Story Mode.
Everything gets 10/10 stars.
Story Mode has awesome bosses, awesome copy abilities, even more awesome Robobot abilities, and the best music ever. Best. Music. Ever. Seriously, I listened to this soundtrack, and I ended up writing a 120k novel off of the inspiration it gave me. No joke, it’s that good.
Team Kirby Clash is the part that allows for download play. You and your team of Kirbys fight bosses, with four abilities to choose from, with a medieval theme. There’s a free-to-play sequel available on the eShop with in-game purchases. I got the game and beat it without spending anything, so that was cool.
Kirby’s 3D Rumble is one of HAL’s 3D Kirby experiments. One day, we will get a fully fledged 3D Kirby game . . .
Anyway, that game is fun too. If you have the New Nintendo 3DS, you can use the C-stick to move the camera (it’s the only benefit to having NN3DS buttons for this game), but moving the camera is by no means necessary. It’s a cool little feature.
The Arena and the True Arena are boss rushes, where you fight all of the bosses in order. The True Arena is harder because the bosses are the upgraded versions and you’re given fewer health items.
Meta Knightmare Returns is basically Story Mode as Meta Knight, minus the sections with a Robobot armor required. It’s a lot of fun to play as Meta Knight.
The amiibo compatibility is for story mode and the Arena. Any amiibo gives you food for your health and a power-up, but the four Kirby series ones give you full health and a special look. You can look up what they look like, but basically:
-Meta Knight’s amiibo gives you the Sword ability and makes Kirby dark blue with Meta Knight wings and mask on top of his head (he does not look like Meta Knight, it’s just a costume inspired by him)
-King Dedede’s amiibo gives you the Hammer ability and makes Kirby light blue with King Dedede’s crown/hat
-Waddle Dee’s amiibo gives you the Parasol ability and makes Kirby dark orange with Waddle Dee’s cap
Kirby’s amiibo is special, which is why I chose to buy that one. Kirby’s amiibo allows you to become UFO Kirby, and you can use it to play as UFO Kirby in any level. The special thing about this (besides how awesome and overpowered UFO Kirby is) is the fact that UFO Kirby is not available to be played in the game otherwise. If you do not have the amiibo, you can still play as UFO Kirby in the Ability Testing level/room, but you can’t leave with it. The only way to play as UFO Kirby in the levels is with the amiibo.
The same is true for the Arenas. A huge benefit to having an amiibo in the Arena, particularly if you are struggling, is that you can use the amiibo to get a copy ability if you lose yours and you still get the health items. About to die on the final boss? Just use an amiibo. If you do use an amiibo, and you get a Top 3 time, an amiibo tag will show up as an indicator that you used one.
Overall, this is a game to be played, replayed, and played again, because the story, gameplay, music, content, and everything in-between is top-notch, A+, and some of the most single-player fun you will ever have.

This game was fantastic! Best one in the series by far, and I have played almost every main-series Kirby game (with the exceptions of Mass Attack and the Wii/WiiU ones). The graphics are of notably higher quality compared to Triple Deluxe, and the storyline is both engaging and relevant in these modern times. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack! The game contains a plethora of references, both visual and musical, to previous Kirby games. The only things I would say this game was missing is Heavy Lobster, which is a shame, considering the themes of machinery and weaponization present throughout the story. My favorite part of this game, though, would have to be (SPOILER ALERT) the Meta Knightmare Returns subgame that is available after the storyline. Super Star Ultra was my first Kirby game, and having that as a throwback was a huge plus. I love Meta Knight and am glad he got the love he deserves as a playable character. Overall, this game is a huge love letter to the franchise and would recommend it to any Kirby fans.

I love traditional Kirby games where he sucks things up and spits them out or absorbs their powers. This is probably my favorite Kirby game yet. I absolutely love the new powers added to the game. The robot mechanic is a blast to play with and works beautifully. I love the added challenge of getting all of the chests. I've always felt that the 3D on the 3DS is lacking and unnecessary. This game is the first one where not only did I not get a headache, not only did I keep it on, but I felt it was beneficial. I'm not sure what magic the programmers used, but this really utilized the 3D technology in a way that made the game even more enjoyable.
If you're a fan of the traditional Kirby gameplay, this is definitely a must have!

When a technological race of robotic aliens invade Popstar to transform it into a robot paradise, it's up to the pink puff to save the day!
While Nintendo is notorious for reusing their game assets (how many times did they release New Super Mario with minimal changes?), it's clear that they tried to stay away from that to keep this from being Triple Deluxe 2.0. You still have Kirby hopping back and forth between the foreground and background to show off the 3DS' 3D capabilities, but they've taken the time to make sure that enemies and environments feel somewhat new - Waddle Dees now have tiny mechs, for example. Scanning amiibo lets you get certain powers immediately (i.e., scanning Mario gives you fire), or you can scan your Kirby-branded amiibos to get special versions of each power; like a version of hammer with King Dedede's hat instead of the headband. Kirby also has access to a mecha, the titular Robobot, which ALSO has it's own power copying, leading to mecha-based versions of some of Kirby's abilities. Just like any other Kirby game, beating the game unlocks more game modes. Where Triple Deluxe had a mode where you played as King Dedede, fans of Meta Knight will be happy to hear Robobot features the return of Meta Knightmare, a game mode played from the perspective of Kirby's sometimes rival, sometimes ally. An absolute blast to play, and a must have for any 3DS owner.

My 4 year old has been asking for this forever and got it for Christmas and he loves it even more than I thought it would.
My only complaint about the kirby series is that it does require reading the story but my four-year-old has limited reading. I would be nice if there was an option to use a speaker and have the characters tell you the story.

This is very fun to play. I actually think about it when am not playing it. It's really easy which makes it a relaxing fun game but you still have to make attempts to solve puzzle. I like it better than the previous which barely kept my interest

Reviewed in Mexico on July 20, 2016Verified Purchase

Hal Laboratory is one of the great game developers of all time - Planet Robobot is one of their best. It is challenging, but so much fun. They really know what players want. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
