Good rating on Consumer Reports, great price, I use a lot of AA batteries around the house so I am always looking for a good deal.

I ordered two packages of 48 batteries each.
Packages were crammed into a too small box crushing the battery packaging and leaving 96 batteries laying loose.
Batteries are to have 7 year shelf life but package says use before 2017 meaning batteries delivered have one year less shelf life than the full 7 year advertised.

Leaked and destroyed a remote control. Expiration date is MAR 2017. Remote is in a temperature controlled office/data center.
Both batteries burst at the negative ends. Contacted Costco/Kirkland - it has been three days and they are "investigating" this -
"My name is Jeanie S and I'm with the Costco Member Services Team.
Your concerns are very important to us and we take very seriously any member service issues within our warehouse locations or with the products we sell.
Please hold on to the product until you are contacted.

We have forwarded your e-mail to our Corporate General Liability Department for their review and response. You can expect to hear from a representative within two business days regarding your concerns."

Not very smart - it is clear that they have an issue with these batteries leaking. They need to step up and address it.

Bottom line - don't buy batteries at Costco.
