I bought these babies in anticipation of a trip to Costa Rica that was going to be made up mostly of hiking through rain forest. I searched for days to find these. They were a great price, they were wool, and they were neutral colors. I bought two packs.
They served me well in Costa Rica. I alternated wearing two pair for an entire week, with handwashes in the shower. I climbed Cerro Chato volcano in these, and it was nothing but mud, water, and roots. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful place, but not for a foot. I was wearing rock sandals (Tevas), and my feet were exposed. Cotton socks would have soaked up water and mud, and they would have been ruined by the dirt. I was surprised how dry these socks kept my feet. They did not stain, and they did not smell. My feet were super-comfy. Some guy did make fun of me when we went out to a bar in Jaco, but such is the nature of wearing sandals and socks together.
Since that trip in March 2016, I wear these socks with Crocs, with sneakers, and with dress shoes. I still have not opened the other pack that I bought. I have been using the same 4 pair of black and brown socks. I use them almost exclusively every day at work. I am a teacher, and I am constantly on my feet. If I do end up sitting at my desk all day, my feet do not get cold and sweaty. They do not smell after a day without a wash. I take them off Monday, turn them inside out, let them dry Tuesday, and put them back on Wednesday. After two days, they do take on a scent.
The only downside is that little wool balls are forming on the outside lower-regions of the socks. Maybe that happens with all wool socks. I included a picture.
These are my first pair. I wash them inside out (Somebody on the internet somewhere recommended washing them inside out... idk why.) and air-dry them. I wool not got back to cotton.
I'm editing this review because I noticed the price changed. I got my packs for about $16 each, and that's the price I reviewed.
