About the Author
Ava Bradley has a vivid imagination. As a teenager she thought she'd write a book, have Nora Roberts-like fame, and buy a big house for her family in Woodside Hills (where today you can't find a fixer-upper for under a million dollars). Reality sank in fast and the term "starving artist" took on personal meaning, but that didn't stop Ava from writing the stories spinning through her imagination. She won the Golden Heart award for best unpublished fiction, was nominated for an Eppie, and has since hit the USA TODAY bestseller list. For more contemporary romance with a dash of paranormal and edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense, visit her website avabradley.com where you can sign up for her newsletter. This story begins eight years after the virus that turned people into mad and bloodthirsty zombie like people came out.times are hard and dangerous as the zombie like people want to eat you, the vampires need the blood of the non-infected humans to survive and a mad doctor is taking people who are immune to the zombie virus for experimentation.
Mystic, known as Misty, is hired to find two kids kidnapped by their mother. The only downfall is she has to work with a vampire, and she has hated vampires since she saw a vampire kill her mother when she was younger. The vampire, Christophe, is hot and soon Misty changes her mind and they work together. There are a lot of twists to this story and I don't want to ruin it by telling you everything. You need to read this yourself.
This story has a snarky heroine, a hot vamp, and a bunch of flesh eating zombie like people. Zombie books aren't my usual, but I loved this story and the characters. I hope to see more of them in future books. The story and the author's writing style flowed smoothly. I read this book in one sitting.
In the not too distant future, in a setting straight out of "Blade Runner", New York City has become a dystopian society dominated by "the Infected", zombie-like creatures who roam the now squalid streets of NYC and prey upon the weak and the defenseless in search of their next meal.
Eking out a somewhat modest living in this grim and hostile environment is Mystic (no last name), a young female private investigator/bounty hunter who dresses to the nines in stylish Gothic black. Her latest assignment: locate two kidnapped children who happen to be the progeny of a well-heeled billionaire. Along her hazardous journey to find them, she meets a varied assortment of the reluctantly helpful, the indifferent, and the outright dangerous who are ready and willing to kill with impunity.
In between the madness and the mayhem, she manages to find the time to kick-start a highly erotic romance with one of the sexiest vampires ever committed to paper - think Keanu Reeves from "The Matrix". And boy does he ever come in handy when Mystic finds herself jammed up in life or death situations!
Liberally peppered with the familiar jargon and slang of the streets - crude, vulgar, and very irreverent - "Kiss Me Before Dawn" reads with the breathless pace of a Mickey Spillane thriller. Lean, mean, and often sardonic in its tone; featuring surprising, edge-of-your-seat action sequences. A real page turner. Not your typical vampire-zombie narrative. And definitely not for children.
A virus has swept the world, turning people into zombies. Seeing their food source dwindling, vampires come out. Mystic is immune to the virus, and hates vampires ever since she watched some kill her mother. Two young children go missing, kidnapped by their mother and her boyfriend. Mystic is forced to work with Christophe, a vampire and the person their father sent to find them. Can they work together to find the children while dodging the Infected, the CDC, and other vampires who want Mystic's immune blood? Can the sexy Christophe get her over her hatred of vampire? Read and find out.
