“Peppy urban fantasy…. Comedy, fantasy, and romance blend together smoothly…. This bubbly blend of genre tropes has spirit and whimsy with some good pieces in place.”
“Delightful…. The ending provides just enough resolution to be satisfying while leaving plenty of questions unanswered to heighten anticipation for the next installment.”
“A Kiss Before Doomsday stays true to the series’ familiar brand, offering a light, frothy confection of an apocalypse filled with soapy drama, cringe-worthy antics, and campy horror.”
“MacNaughton has a real gift for developing quirky and a bit crazy characters who enliven the zany storylines. Another terrific outing!”

“A long way from being yet another gloomy, claustrophobic urban fantasy. This is urban fantasy for readers who want to have a good time—even a few laughs… A well-crafted and thoroughly entertaining novel.”
“The follow-up to It Happened One Doomsday is a fun turducken of humor, magical exploits, and entertaining characters. More urban fantasy than supernatural romance, this offers fans of both subgenres a fun crossover read”

Dru Jasper and her cohorts are all entertaining, and their dialogue is snappy and full of energy. By the end of the novel, I was totally engaged and flipping pages at a mad rate to keep up with Dru, the speed demon and the scourge. This is great stuff, and while it could be described as a more than a bit on the fluffy side, it is thoroughly engaging, completely entertaining and an enthusiastic recommend. I just wish I had started with book 1 so I could have enjoyed that one as well.
These are short books, so you really do want to start with the first book. Thankfully, even though this is a series each book has had a proper ending. As the reader you know that there is more to come, but the current situation the characters were dealing with throughout the novel is at least concluded.
I loath spoiler reviews, so all I can really say is if you are looking for a supernatural light read, with sorcerers, zombies, demons, demon cars, a 6' tall blond who loves to say "Dude!", & a whole lot more, you are sure to enjoy the ride as much as I have.
As I have not read the first book in this series, I didn't really experience Rane and Salem's past relationship history. Yet, I had a pretty good idea of what happened. Every time that they saw each other, it was not friendly. However, you could feel that they still had feelings for each other. The non friendly banter was like flirting for them or at least Rane. Salem may not have wanted to admit it as much as Rane. Rane and Salem are not the only ones that share a connection. I can't forget about Dru and her boyfriend Greyson. While, they did not spend a lot of time together in this book, I could tell that they shared strong feelings for one another. It was amazing that Dru and her friends did not get themselves killed fighting the undead. Some times it seemed pure luck that they were victorious. I give the women credit as they didn't seem to back down when things got bad. I am going back and reading the first book. This book provided me with many laughs filled with awesome characters!
With A KISS BEFORE DOOMSDAY, the Dru Jasper series has quickly become one of the series I'm adding to my must-buy list. With its down-to-Earth heroine and the creative situations she finds herself in, A KISS BEFORE DOOMSDAY is super enjoyable and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
Dru is, without a doubt, a heroine who most of us could probably relate to. She's got powers, sure, but she's not crazy super powerful, and throughout the book, there's always the faint impression that she'd rather be reading than dealing with the end of the world. A woman after my own heart, that one. And not only is Dru an interesting, relatable character, but the rest of the characters aren't two-dimensional either. They've got multiple facets to them and really round out the story.
A KISS BEFORE DOOMSDAY doesn't have the inklings of romance that IT HAPPENED ONE DOOMSDAY did, but that's totally fine in this instance. Dru, with some help from Rane, gets to kick some butt and she gets to do some magic, and while there's some questionable decision making, the story moves along at a pretty fast clip.
For a short book (under 300 pages), A KISS BEFORE DOOMSDAY really has it all. Great characters, captivating plot, and interesting world building. I do recommend reading IT HAPPENED ONE DOOMSDAY first, because while it's not totally necessary, it is nice to have the backstory about how Dru ended up where she did. All in all, I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment in the Dru Jasper series!
