The idea behind Kiss Me, Cowboy came to me in as I was writing Home For Christmas, one of the Copper Mountain Christmas novellas released in 2013. A wrangler named Zack Harris caught my eye and imagination. He was a military veteran turned cowboy who also taught shooting to guests during the summer months. Handsome and hardworking, but with some baggage. I just hadn't figured out what yet.
I could easily picture Zack in my mind (and my heart!) I knew he would be a great hero, but I hadn't figured out a heroine for him until writing a line about the Bar V5's female wrangler Charlie who was spending the winter in Colorado.
A plot popped into my head. What if a woman fell in love with a coworker, but he didn't date the women he worked with? What if she couldn't get over her feelings for him? How far would she go to stop her crush?
Ideas flowed around the unrequited love trope. I couldn't wait to write Charlie and Zack's story for Montana Born Books and was so happy when I was asked to participate in the Copper Mountain Rodeo series.

If only Charlie Randall could get over her infatuation for Zack Harris once and for all. Maybe she would be happy. Maybe she could continue working at Bar V5 Dude Ranch. But, it has come down to the point where she needs to move on to get him out of her system.
Zack Harris is an army veteran with a lot of baggage. His parents were con artists. He watched them go in and out of jail for as long as he can remember. He joined the army and experienced death which has stayed with him to this day. His rule of no work place romances is set for a reason and he refuses to break that rule even though he is breaking Charlie's heart each time he kisses her.
Will Zach be able to put his fears to rest or will Charlie move on without him once and for all?
I really enjoyed reading this story and got a real feel for the ranch life of the wranglers experience on a day to day basis. The love story took a while to build up, but it was well worth the wait.
Zack had a rule--don't date coworkers. But one night he let Charlie (Charlotte) kiss him while consoling him over the death of a friend. It felt good, but not enough to break his rule. Over time, Charlie has wanted more, but knows about the rule. She can't stand being close to him, so she starts looking for another job. Zack, not realizing she's really into him, offers to help her find someone to love in order to will keep her on the ranch. She reluctantly agrees, but everyone falls short of Zack. And, they keep finding themselves in situations where they end up kissing--both feeling the spark.
Charlie takes a chance and tells him she loves him, but Zack has put up a wall--though he knows he loves her, too--to protect himself from losing himself in love. He's afraid to take a chance on love, family beyond the "ranch family," and commitment because of his dysfunctional past and a tragic incident when he was deployed. He starts seeing her more as a woman as she starts dressing less like one of the guys, and a little more feminine. Losing Charlie to a job at another ranch wakes him up to the reality of love and what it's worth.
I loved how this couple finally figured it out to take a chance on love and the happily ever after!
This book starts out with Charlie (charlotte) and she is in charge of a lot of things in Marietta, at the Bar 5 Ranch.
The tourists are there and they expect to be pampered a bit while being shown around. She has an opportunity to go to another state for a few months but this time if she does decide to return her job may be filled.
Story also follows Zach who's back in the states after his time in Afghanistan and he's not quite over the loss of his friend. She helps to soothe him but he wants to also keep his distance.
Like the town and am familiar with many of the characters already. Hoped there wouldbe more information written about the rodeo parts.
Love the events that do take place and can't wait to read more from this author.

Great story and I loved that it was set in my favorite town of Marietta, Montana. Even better, the author kept with the theme of the town, and the people who who've been there forever, it seems.
