This book had me crying, cringing, swooning, but also smiling when things finally fell into place, and we got to the long-awaited HEA. This is on the dark side, and I definitely felt it more in this book versus book 1.
The book continues from where book 1 leaves off. Una’s pregnant and she knows what it means- it means Nicholai will want her child and keep him/her for himself, and she doesn’t want that. So she’s gonna run- away from Nicholai, away from danger, away from Nero 🥺and Nero isn’t having it. While she’s killing and running for her life, Nero’s looking for her, and when he finds her, she’s gonna regret leaving him 😈.
Except when he finds her, he realizes why she left, but that’s not gonna stop him from keeping her and protecting her… or from showing her why he’s the alpha-male boss we love, and I was here for it 💅.
Sure, there weren’t as many aggressive, fighting smexxy times like in book 1, but this book shows the depth of their connection❤️, the visceral rawness of their passion🥵, and it was just as passionate and scorching as book 1🔥. The way they connect and make eye-contact, coupled it with the life they created and the love they feel, was perfection. Gawd, I FELT their emotions, their love, which totally brought tears to my eyes. Their relationship evolved, and I couldn’t read fast enough ❤️ (side note- we still get a good, solid and full fighting smexxy time… what can I say? I love the the MCs are kicking each other’s a$$e$ 😂😂😂).
We still see the bloodshed like in book 1, and the darkness escalates because of what Nero and Una are forced to do because of Nicholai. There were times I was cringing and hoping that my eyes were deceiving me, but alas, life isn’t always flowers and rainbows, and we get a front-row seat to the harshness of the mafia world and life. Things happen for a reason, and the comeuppance is SATISFYING 💅👀😅.
I loooved it! Was it perfect? No. I found mistakes, but in the grand scheme of the plot, I didn’t even care 😅👏🏻❤️.
