Lidia is a strong single Mom who loves her job as a investigative US Park Ranger. She lives life on the edge by always carrying her gun. During an investigation that involved a dead body, her and her son's life was threaten. Instead of seeking refuse that her boss offered her at a safe house, Lidia and Spencer left life behind in Cincinnati and packed up a trailer and started living life on the road.
Kane is on medical leave from the Park Rangers. Lidia's boss, who is Kane's Uncle, has asked Kane to keep watch on Lidia and Spencer without her knowledge.
From the moment they met, Kane took Lidia's boy genius under his wing. Imagine holding a baseball for the first time at the age of nine. Owning a baseball mit. Attending a St. Louis Cardinals game.
Both Kane and Lidia are wounded adults that eventually find love in each other.
Judy Kentrus once again educates us about the unsung hero's of the US Park Rangers. And especially the Firemen and women.
Her description of the forest fire will keep you turning the pages of this story.
I can not wait to read the next book in this series. Judy, outstanding writing. No one writes family and supporting characters as believable as you.
I was given an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review of book.
Kane is a Fire Fighter who was seriously injured while fighting fires - he was one who jumps out of planes into danger. After recovering from his injuries, he becomes a U.S. Park Ranger.
While he is in medical leave, Lidia's boss, who happens to be Kane's uncle, asks him to keep an eye on her and help solve this problem she has. Someone burned down her house. Seems to involve Spencer's father.
Spencer is a very interesting young man who will keep you scratching your head because of all of his knowledge for a ten year old.
I Loved how some of this story took part in Missouri and talked about so many interesting places to visit - Like the fabulous Arch.
This is a nail biter so be prepared to sit in the edge of your seat. I could not put this one down and highly recommend it.
This story was fun to read, loved all the "did you know" fun facts given to us by Spencer. The two dogs, Einstein and Tunlip were stars of the book too. There was lots of excitement on the road trip from Missouri to Pennsylvania. Can't wait for the next adventure!
Loved it! Judy, you just have to write faster!
Judy Kentrus is my favorite author. The characters she creates are amazing, strong, independent, funny, loving, flawed and engaging. I love how well researched and well written Judy's books are.
Seriously, pick up any or all of her books and fall in love with every single story, every single character.
