Kiss & Hell will make you laugh ,yell out in protest and make your heart stir ever so slightly. We discover some truths that may be a bit hard to swallow… “ignorance is bliss”, and sometimes just what you need in this post-apocalyptic world. Mike Machine (the drummer of Kitty in a Casket) finds himself in deep dodo right from the start. Enter Max Van Angst.
This is a fast paced, action packed kick to the trough , zombie smashing kind of read. You won’t want to put it down. So much is going on in this book that makes you shout “ What the…. Heyyy !” We get a peek into Toque’s life
before the world went down the crapper, yet he is one of the enigmas you still want to know more. We find Tom and Todd pay homage to KIAC for taking them in and making them fell loved and part of this amazing little unconventional family long before the end came. A mysterious and violently twisted stranger blows into town and is on the band’s radar in a big way, even before he turns their nice little existence on its ear and reeks havoc with the readers mind. The cliffhanger will leave you rubbing your chin and you mind reeling .
Mr Jack Wallen is a well-versed master of the English language and a masterful storyteller. This book is another win for this Author. You feel like you know the band members of Kitty In A Casket intimately, this is a masterful marriage between an Author and the best Horror Punk band out in the world today. This is a brilliant collaboration.
If that is a sentiment that runs true through your blood then you should check out these books. Kiss & Hell is the second book of this I, Zombie spinoff series, the first being The Last Casket. I enjoyed the first book and Jack Wallen does not disappoint with this second offering.
I appreciate it when a book is able to stay out of its own way and just be a fun read. Wallen has got a great franchise going here. The heroes are engaging and so are the villains. With each installment, Wallen seems to add a little something extra to the mix, just a nudge closer to turning the amps up to eleven.
One thing I appreciate is how in the universe Wallen has created, there are still some bare vestiges of society holding on and that some things still manage to hold out against the zombie apocalypse.
Kiss & Hell is a great continuation of the series. And I'm assuming that you wouldn't be reading a review for the second book if you haven't already read the first. But if you haven't, check it out!
The music continues as the band encounters more than their fair share of creeps and zombies. They go through many battles and struggles but still make great music. You are sucked into their world of survival as they embrace a new member and meet a stranger. The action never stops and the music plays on. Mr. Wallen once again weaves the words into an amazing story.
