New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery creates the small-town destination for romance in charming Fool's Gold, California—where a loner cowboy finds the one woman who can capture his heart

After Phoebe Kitzke's kind heart gets her suspended from her job in LA, she swears off doing favors—until her best friend begs for help on the family ranch in Fool's Gold. Unfortunately, sexy cowboy Zane Nicholson isn't exactly thrilled by the city girl's arrival.

Thanks to his brother's latest scheme, Zane has been roped into taking tourists on a cattle drive. What Phoebe knows about ranching wouldn't fill his hat, but her laughter is so captivating that even his animals fall for her. One slip of his legendary control leads to a passionate kiss that convinces him she's exactly the kind of woman a single-minded loner needs to avoid.

In his arms, Phoebe discovers she's a country girl at heart. Yet no matter how much the small town feels like home, she can't stay unless Zane loves her, too…but is this cowboy interested in forever?

Sixteen prolific years and seventy-four books later, she hit the New York Times bestsellers list for the first time with Accidentally Yours in 2008. She made many appearances in the Top 10 before (finally) hitting #1 in 2015 with Thrill Me, the twentieth book in her popular series, the Fool's Gold romances, and the fourth of five books released that year.

Susan lives in Seattle with her husband, a ragdoll cat, and a small poodle with delusions of grandeur. Her heart for animals has led Susan to become an active supporter of the Seattle Humane Society. Animals play a big role in her books, as well, as she believes they're an integral component to a happy life. Visit Susan online at www.SusanMallery.com.

I did not care for Susan's last book but this was great and reminds me why I love reading the Fools Gold Series. Character development was great with a good story & this time she included characters from her previous Fools Gold Stories that we all fell in love with. Susan always does a great job describing scenery and you get a real feel for the location where the characters reside. This time the older ladies who joined the trail ride were full of true grit and added to the story. In past I have not appreciated the fact that she portrays anyone over 60 as white haired with one foot in the grave so to speak.

Susan Mallery has written another great book in Kiss Me from the Series Fool's Gold!
It is the story of Phoebe Kitzke who comes from LA and sells Real Estate and Zane Nicholson and his Ranch. Phoebe is a do-gooder with a big open heart who always finds the good in the bad and keeps going no matter what but secretly wants to know if she is strong enough or good enough for anyone. Because of being too good she ends out of her job for a month and does not know what to do, so she goes to see her best friend Maya who ends up roping her into a vacation for a cattle drive at her ex-stepbrother's Ranch. She ends up leaving sooner than Maya and was promised a distraction of a hot cowboy Adam Levine look alike.
Zane Nicholson-the sullen, lonely, and gruff cowboy gets thrown for a loop by his younger brother Chase's stunt of putting his Cattle Ranch as a vacation spot on the internet for people to come and do a cattle drive. As a lesson to his younger brother he keeps the cattle drive on but calls in Maya his ex-stepsister to help with their brother. Zane is a quiet man of few words and has many worries for his brother which translates as over bearing and no fun to his younger brother who just wants to be able to do his own thing with computers.
When Zane and Phoebe get together its pure electricity in between them-she is able to see him as a person who is lonely and just wants to be accepted to the inner circle of his siblings and be cared for-where as he sees that she is a woman who needs to be loved and wants to love her for who she is-a big hearted woman who know no capacity for negativity to enter into her life no matter the situation.
I loved this heart-warming story of a gruff cowboy and the outgoing city girl. I have read other books of Susan Mallery and a big fan of her work, but this is the first book I have read in the Fool's Gold series and I have to say I am a big fan of it and will be going back to read all the other's written in the series!! Absolutely would recommend this book and the whole series to any avid reader of romance stories. I cannot say enough about this great story-just love it!!!

There were several things to like about this book. It's a real love story and the love extends beyond the H and h. A subplot that really draws you in and likeable characters.

Zane is a cowboy and like most cowboys he's the strong silent type, typically more comfortable with the cows and horses riding the open range than with other people. It was easy to understand why too. His father seemed to withdraw his love for him the day his mother died, so in essence Zane lost two parents and not just one. As is typical with teenagers Zane made a mistake that has haunted him for years and leaves him with lasting regret. He's determined not to let the 17 year old brother, Chase he's raising make the same kind of mistakes and like a lot of people who have to find the correct balance between parent and brother, he goes about things with him in the wrong way some of the time. I do however believe that his choice of punishment for Chase's latest escapade was wrong. I think it totally fit the crime.

I really liked Phoebe too. I could really relate to her. She's a people pleaser, a fixer, and a real animal lover. Her heart to heart talks with Manny the lead steer and her horse are amusing. As is her wanting to bargain with the raccoons for the return of her pen. Don't judge, I talk to my cat too. Typically she's drawn to men who have something within them that need to be fixed. It's a good quality but it also makes her somewhat of a doormat. Zane isn't at all her usual type but she finds herself wildly attracted to him anyway. The problem is he doesn't need her. Or does he?

Mallery also does a really good job of telling the story of a childless couple, CJ and Thad who end up fostering a couple of foster kids who happen to be thieves too. CJ is bitter and angry at first and really doesn't come across as a very likeable person but the more you read about her story the more you feel for her. Her husbands love for her is so great its almost palpable within the pages. And the kids story as to why they steal is heartbreaking.

In this book you're also introduced to Maya who will have her own story Thrill Me, due out later this month.

I was disappointed that other than Eddie and Gladys who are always a riot there is very little interaction with past Fools Gold characters. And unlike in other stories Mayor Marsha doesn't seem to have a hand in Zane and Phoebe ending up together. The conflict comes within the characters and not to worry the Hero doesn't break the heroines heart when she declares her love for him and walk away. No girls night margarita trashing guys party either. In fact this one is quite different from Susan's other Fools Gold stories and can almost be read as a stand alone.

Kiss Me is a part of the Fool's Gold series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. This book features Phoebe and Zane and I just loved getting to meet them and go on their journey. I just had so much fun getting to enter this story. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just felt so much for these characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

I love Fool's Gold. This is just another great book with a great group of new people to entice you to Fool's Gold.
Zane and Phoebe just draw you in and don't want to let you go. And Zane's little brother Chase was the one who was supposed to be taught a lesson, but Zane and Phoebe learned there own lesson. Great book showing team work and how people from a small town help each other out no matter what the history is between them. It shows there are still great people in this world and neighbors do help neighbors.

I just loved this book and couldn't put it down even when I should have been sleeping. Another must read. I can't wait for her next book in the Fool's Gold series.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent addition to this series
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 14, 2015
There is a bit of a departure in this latest episode in the Fool's Gold saga. Instead of being set in the quaint town this book takes place on the ranch which Zane owns and runs after his younger brother advertises it for tourist cattle drives. Zane feels that it will be a suitable punishment for his brother to have to help deliver the event, especially as he is not in a position to return the deposits which people have paid. Among the group of people who turn up for the drive is Phoebe who has been suspended from her estate agency job for helping someone and getting into trouble with the licensing authorities.

If you have read any of Susan Mallery's series you will know how the story will evolve but I cannot imagine that you would be reading the 19th in the series if you didn't like the pattern. The love story is touching and Phoebe and Zane have more life than usual in a light romantic pair. All their problems are resolved very easily and quickly (one conversation or moment of realisation and suddenly everything is OK) as is also traditional in this type of book. If you have followed this series to date, however, you will enjoy the new location and be introduced to some new characters who I suspect will all have their own tales soon. This is definitely one of the best of the recent novels in this series.
