Micah is charming and sensitive, and Shauna’s independent streak hides a painful loss. You really want to see these two get together. I loved the strong friendship between Shauna and the secondary characters. Sabina Phillips shows a real talent for combining witty dialogue with emotional depth. If you’re looking for a quick read that’s sexy but not too steamy, this story’s for you!
Micah Matheus is one of the groomsmen and has just moseyed back into town to take a job as the high school soccer coach. What Shauna didn’t know is that Micah's tom cat act all those years ago was just that. An act. He had fallen in love with Shauna, but had to leave her behind due to circumstance beyond his control.
But, now he's returned to his home town ready to settle down. And he knows just who he wants to settle down with. The problem is how to convince Shauna that the Bad Boy has grown up and wants to make things right between them.
How? Well, it turns out that the fiercely independent Shauna has an Achilles heel. Although she owns a skating rink, she is terrified of skating due to a childhood accident. Micah makes her an offer. He’s a sports coach. He knows how to help her get over her fear and skate with him after the rehearsal dinner she’s hosting at the rink. It would be a perfect wedding gift for her cousin. It's an offer that Shauna can't refuse even if she wanted to.
This is an absolutely delightful romance, written with wit and sass, featuring bright and appealing characters (not to mention a steamy sex scene in the stairwell). It left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside like I just downed a shot of good Irish whisky. I recommend it highly.
