I'm not a writer or critic, just an avid reader. Crime/police thrillers are my favorites. The first half of this book was a bit hard for me to follow because there are so many characters. One of the crimes being investigated had 9 different suspects. After that gets worked out a bit, the book becomes far more engaging. The storyline does a good job of weaving together Charlene's personal and professional struggles while also showing her strength as a detective.

I can't say enough good things about this book. The story grabbed my attention right away. I found it well written and very believable. There are a lot of twist and turns. It's a real page turner. I never did figure out the ending. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. I love a good physiological thriller. I hope we'll be seeing Detective Charlene again.

Just finished this book! Kept you guessing until the end. I thought I had some ideas of what was going to happen but I was wrong!! I would like to see more books with Charlene and Larry. Great book and I still have a question about one of the "characters".

Great sophomore effort by Luke Murphy! While I enjoyed his first novel, Dead Man's Hand, I loved this novel! It is a suspenseful crime novel - reminded me of James Patterson and Jonathan Kellerman. Well developed plot - keeps you guessing until the end!

"Kiss and Tell" is a real page turner with a strong female lead character. Not only will you identify with her drive and her struggles but you will pull for at every turn. Great second book Luke. I'm looking forward to what is next to come

'Kiss & Tell' by Luke Murphy is a tightly-wound suspense novel with the writing style of James Patterson. The story of a LAPD detective who is on the hunt for her father’s murderer. The plot is intelligent, with depth and order, while also providing the reader with plenty of interesting characters. I would recommend setting aside a quite hour to yourself to initially get into this novel. This is probably the only aspect I had a slight problem with, as I did struggle to keep track of the many characters that were introduced early on in the book. So a solid 4 stars, but I'd expect to see 5 star performance in the future.

Kiss & Tell by Luke Murphy is a psychological thriller with a great number of things happening at the same time and a fairly high body count. It will keep you guessing for the entire book. I had absolutely no idea who the killer was and was taken by complete surprise. I'm guessing it will surprise you, too.

The setting for this book is the LA/Hollywood area. Charlene, our main character, is a tough woman in her twenties who newly becomes a homicide detective after a personal loss. She is a "functional" alcoholic. There is also a serial killer lurking about who takes a particular interest in Charlene. She has to deal with both of these issues while also working on her first case as a new detective. She is paired with a veteran detective, Larry, who shows his support in his own grumpy way. All the while she has a "boyfriend" who wants more commitment and lingering guilt about her past and current relationships with immediate family members.

This book has a great number of details. The psychological part? I found within my own self-reflection that some of the details in this story tried my patience. I wanted more action at times. However, when the action began it was on the edge of your seat, intense, scary action that will make your heart pound and your breath catch in your throat. Scary stuff, folks. Luke knows how to freak people out.

Do psychological thrillers strike your fancy? Want to work on a little cardio while sitting down? Read this book. It will be worth your time.

I really enjoy gritty crime novels, and Kiss & Tell did not disappoint. Charlene, the main character, reminded me a little of "Mary" from the TV show "In Plain Sight:" clever, troubled and searching for something as yet unrevealed. However, book format allows the reader to more intimately follow Charlene's line of reasoning as she seeks to follow her father's professional footsteps, solve her father's last case, and resolve her own feelings about their relationship. I specifically noticed the pacing; the way Murphy structured the novel, the reader experiences the solution to several mysteries throughout, not just the penultimate reveal connected to the central mystery. I'd like to see Charlene evolve more into her new role as detective and I'd like to also see how she continues to confront the personal choices she's made.
