I have mixed feelings on this one. I thought the series would go one way. I don’t know that it is. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve enjoyed many parts of this book. I read pretty much anything from Samantha. I’ll keep reading this series. Maybe it’s one that will just make more sense later.
I keep being told the hero wants/ needs vengeance. I feel like I haven’t been shown it. I don’t feel it. It kind of talked about near the end. It’s not strong enough to drive the story. It’s mentioned so much. I’m bored of it and wanted more from the story. The last ten percent is more of what I would like to see. I am excited to see what happens next.
Rose was a strong and likeable leading lady. She learned that she was fae and handled this knowledge and all her new talents remarkably. She remained positive and even found ways to flirt with Fionn while agitating him at the same time.
Fionn was an old grump whom you will find yourself loving more and more as the story progresses. Once you learn about his past and discover his reasons for wanting Rose, you’ll be able to understand a little more why his revenge was so important to him. It doesn’t make you want it to happen, but it does allow you to see his side and feel sorry for what all was taken from him. Bran was a good secondary character and a good friend to Fionn, and he also became one to Rose as well.
Rose and Fionn were a great couple and I enjoyed the journey that brought them together. Kiyo and Niamh’s book is next and I’m excited to see what will happen. I liked both of their characters so I’m hoping they’ll turn out to be mates and get a happy ending too.
If you want more Rose and Fionn, they have a bonus short story in the Tempted by Fae Anthology.
It picked up right where the first book War of Hearts left off, this book was action packed, heartbreak, grief, love, with plot twists you couldn't see coming! We learn a lot more of the backstory, and we see many of characters from the first book. Fionn and Rose have an unmistakable connection and chemistry. Their story is unmistakably unique and the betrayal hurts that much more. I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
This series are interconnected stand alones, I highly recommend you read them in order. Even if Paranormal Romance is not your jam, I firmly believe this book should be on your TBR list.
It is no secret that I'm a huge fan of Samantha's books. I am so happy she's decided to return to the paranormal romance genre. I loved this. The characters were well developed. As always, Sam writes great banter between her characters and she always creates excellent side characters that you'd want on your team in a dire situation. The story has a good pace and the plot developed nicely, giving Fionn's backstory as he and Rose get to know each other. We really get to know why he's so angry and why he feels vengeance is his only option. I really like that she's using all different sorts of paranormal creatures in this series. I also appreciated that this book tied back to the first one. This is 100% a standalone, but it does make mention to things that happened in the first book. It isn't necessary, but I recommend reading War of Hearts not because you need to, but because it's a good book. I'm really looking forward to the next book.
Kiss of Vengeance follow Rose, whom is in a similar situation as the first book female lead Thea. She is different and the key to opening the gates to the Fae. But a vengeful and scorned immortal is after her, Fionn Mó, was once a leader and warrior who was taken by the Queen Fae and forced as her consort. He escaped only to be betrayed by his people. Now Fionn wants to use Rose for his revenge and tells her he is actually there to help her. But Rose isnt someone Fionn is ready for and with others on the hunt for Rose, they are in for a big surprise.
This was another great delve into this new paranormal world, a lot more is revealed and new characters introduced. Rose is similar to Thea in the aspect that they are tough, independent woman, who are seriously powerful. But Rose is softer and has to learn fast about her new gifts. Fionn has a tragic past, he is damaged and angry, Rose starts to peel away his layers slowly. This is a lot more slow burn than the first book, but every moment with the duo opens up more to how these two are going to change what I feel in inevitably going to happen.

Rose finds out that she is Fae born and she meets Fionn Mór who is also Fae and was once the Fae Queens consort and is willing to help Rose to harness and grow her powers ...but Fionn secretly has other plans for Rose ! But fate as ways of turning everything upside down !
The best bit of this book is the last 20%. Everything comes together for Fionn and Rose. We see our favourite alpha wolves again and get a glimpse of book 3.
