"I fell head over heels in LOVE with Shane McCarthy... Shane and Katie are magic together. These characters are so well written that as you read, these characters become your friends. You hurt with them, you laugh with them and you want to fight for them."--4.5 Star Review by Piper from Guilty Pleasures

This book, just like all the others in this series, always makes me feel so warm and cozy inside. I love the fact that Marie writes this series with characters that are so warm and caring, and not only towards their own family members, but also with their close friends, as well as everyone else in the whole community. There are very wealthy families, very poor families, and everything in between living together on this Island, and yet no one is made to feel like they don't measure up. Instead; these wealthy families pull together to help those who happen to be less fortunate. What a wonderful world this would be, if we could find a way to make this happen in real life.
After reading all 12 books in this series so far, I still can't seem to get enough. Believe it or not, but I actually crave it. I can't wait to open the book and re-visit the people of Gansett, just to see what's been happening since we left them last. And Marie Force didn't disappoint in that aspect of this book, either.
I knew from reading the last book, that there was something very special going to happen between Shane and Katie. I just didn't know what, or how special....until now. Both of them had had more than their fair share of crap thrown at them in the past. Things that would probably scar most of us for life, or at least make us feeling very cynical about our future life, anyway. I love the protectiveness of Laura and Owen. They might want to kill their siblings at times, but they're not about to let anyone else touch them. Stephanie and Grant's wedding was wonderful, and I can't wait to see who hits the alter next. And I can't wait to read about all the new babies coming soon. I just hope it doesn't put Mac & Maddie back into a depressed state, again.
I cried and laughed off and on throughout this book, because I actually feel so connected to everyone on this Island. They have all become just like friends and family to me now. I have followed them all though-out this whole series, so how could I not feel this way? Mac & Maddie's situation about tore me up. I cried for over an hour on that one, then just about the time I put myself back together, Marie throws in the part about Lisa Chandler and her adorable sons, then the tears were off and running again. Big Mac has a heart of gold, when it comes to his family. I just love that big lug to the moon and back.
Jamie Rhodes up above said it best; " I have a love hate relationship with it. I love it while I am reading it, but I hate that it's over.", and that just about sums it up for me, too.
What I love about Marie force's books, is that there are never any cliff hangers. I REALLY, REALLY despise that method that even some of the major author's are using these days, in order to get you to buy their next book. In fact; some of my favorite author's of late have resorted to this tactic, and I have stopped reading their books altogether. But that's not the case with Marie Force books, she leaves you satisfied, while still craving for more. Call me selfish, but I hope this series never stops. ;)
If you have never tried one of Marie Force's books, you don't know what you are missing. I highly recommend this whole series, but to get the most satisfaction, you need to start with book #1.
I cried and laughed off and on throughout this book because I feel so connected to everyone since I've read it from the start. Shane and Katie are a good match. They have both had a lot of pain in life and are working through it. I hope everything turn's out happy for them. Shane is a hero and deserves to be happy finally.
I was so upset with the unexpected loss my heart hurt and I cried right along with everyone in the story. Big Mac Bless his heart he's just a big ol' teddy bear who's always there for his children.
I'm so happy about the new babies that are coming. Congratulations to the parents to be.
Of course it wouldn't be the same if "Girls Night" didn't get crashed by the men.
I'm glad to see she didn't over load this book like she did that last one. Looks like she finally listened to her readers. I've loved, loved, loved this series from the start. I've read every single book and after the last one I swore I wouldn't buy another. Marie refused to make the books longer so she crammed to much into it and really just ruined the story for me. I know I personally and others as well suggested making the story longer if she was going to keep going the books needed to get bigger or cover less people in them. She of course informed us it was a full length book.
So if you were like me and swore to never buy another lol I'm here to say it's safe to dive back into Gansett Island.
My biggest issue with the book was when Shane's ex comes to town. Katie seems to take issue with the fact Shane wanted a minute with his ex. This is where I no longer cared for their relationship. Katie knew Shane had never gotten any closer from his ex yet she took issue with him wanting a minute to talk with her. When Shane does finally track Katie down she wants time to think because she doesn't believe he is over his ex. Doesn't matter that he said he was over her and he wants to be with Katie...nope Katie who had never been in a relationship prior KNOWS that Shane isn't over the ex. Shane had to go all out to prove to her he was over the ex. Not only does he have to prove to Katie but he has to defend his actions to his sister and her husband Katie's brother. I'm sorry I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to talk to their ex if they had been given no explanation for the divorce.
For me if it hadn't been for some of the other stories I would not have finished this book. But maybe if there had been less other stories the author could have done a better job with Shane and Katie.
