To say that Bobby Vinton was one of THE most revered vocalists of his era would be understating the fact, as all he did was register something like 66 nationally charting singles from mid-1962 to 1989, not to mention his many albums which also sold in the millions. During his career, the Christmas season was also an important factor and his first crack at that genre came in 1963 when Epic released the 4-track E.P. “Songs Of Christmas” (Epic EG 7215) containing Silver Bells, White Christmas, O Holy Night and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire). That mini-album scored at # 9 on Billboard’s special Xmas Charts.

The following year they released a full album - “A Very Merry Christmas” (Epic LN 24122) containing: A1. Christmas Chopsticks; A2. The Bell That Couldn't Jingle; A3. Do You Hear What I Hear?; A4. Dearest Santa; A5. The Greatest Gift; A6. Christmas In Killarney; B1. Peppermint Stick Parade; B2. The Christmas Angel; B3. The Christmas Tree; B4. Three Wise Men, Wise Men Three; B5. White Christmas; B6. My Christmas Prayer. Only White Christmas was a carry-over from the 1963 E.P. That same year two of the album sides were released as the single Epic 9741, with Dearest Santa reaching # 8 on Billboard’s Xmas charts and The Bell That Couldn’t Jingle finishing at # 23 on the same charts.

In 1990, Curb Special Markets released the CD “Great Songs Of Christmas” which contains, along with sides never appearing before in a CD, Silver Bells from that original Epic E.P.

I don't know about you but when I put on a Christmas CD I want it to make me smile and make me feel "christmasy"; Kissin' Christmas also makes me pleasantly nostalgic. It's not too loud or brash and it's not too sad or slow or sleepy. It's a five-star disc with the flavor of fifties and the sound quality of the millenium. You know it's 'old' but it's as good as ever. Someone recommended me "Phil Spector"'s "A Christmas Gift to You" (50s-ish inspired) and I purchased it and was sorely disapointed by the horrible sound quality and the annoying renditions of christmas favs. However, Kissin' Christmas by contrast is a classic smash at the holidays. Enjoy!

The FIRST 6 songs were from his OTHER Christmas album, either from 1964 OR 1972. "Kissin Christmas" & "Santa Must be Polish" are real cute songs. And I also enjoyed Bobby's versions of "Jingle Bells", "Deck the Halls" & "Silent Night" This holiday album is good & it's recommended.

I loved this album!!!!! My grandkids especially enjoyed the "Santa Must be Polish" and "Kissin Christmas" selections. The other selections were good also and we enjoyed Bobby's versions of some of the standards as well. A real fun Christmas album.
