Evo Non-Aerosol Oil Sprayer Bottle Set, the world’s first non-aerosol trigger sprayer with a unique fan-shaped spray, keeps 2 oils always at the ready and dispenses easily without harmful additives, propellants or chemicals. They work with many types of healthy cooking oil, like EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), canola oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, even infused oils with herbs and spices. Great for balsamic vinegar, lime juice, and cooking wine too. Makes preparing healthy meals and practicing portion control easier! Evo spray bottles allows complete control over calories, nutrition and food purity. Every pull of the trigger delivers a precise 1.35-milliliters in a unique fan pattern that covers more cooking surface with less oil. The scalloped trigger offers a natural ergonomic feel and secure grip. Contents are easily identifiable at a glance by bottle color. Helpful anywhere food is being prepared, cooked and served for easy indoor and outdoor lifestyle. Coat vegetables for roasting or broiling, flavor fillets for baking or steak for grilling, finish foods before serving, and apply salad dressing. Easier to use than a traditional oil vaporizer or oil mister. No pumping, priming, or messy, clogged oil dispensers! Simply fill and firmly pull the trigger for consistent, even coverage. Made from BPA-, Latex-, and DEHP-free plastic, Evo is durable, food safe and 100-percent recyclable. They won’t shatter if dropped like glass spray bottles can. More economical than aerosol cooking spray. Their compact size is perfect for people with smaller hands and cooking with kids and stores easily in the fridge. Evo’s bottle is top-rack dishwasher safe. Hand wash the sprayers in warm, soapy water. Set includes 2 (8-ounce) sprayer bottles with ergonomic precision triggers.

The bottles are decorative and look nice on the table or counter if you want to leave them out. One is a light green and the other is a golden color. The high quality plastic is semi-hard with a slight give. If you drop it, it won't shatter like glass. The spray nozzle has an aggressive fine stream (no pumping needed!), either vertical or horizontal spray - like a fan. It is a wide spray, it is not like an aerosol spray that mists, this sprays (like window cleaner) a large measured amount at one time, 1.35 milliliters per trigger spray. It has a scalloped trigger that has a natural ergonomic feel with a place for your fingers to grip. It hardly takes a pressure to pull the trigger, very nice for people who might have arthritis or grip issues. These are very easy to fill and to clean. I use hot soapy water and spray it a few times, then spsray with just hot water. The sprayer has never clogged. The smaller size fits nice in my refrigerator. They are approximately 6"x 4.5".
According to their info - the plastic is food friendly. Evo is made from BPA-, Latex- and DEHP-free, 100% recyclable plastic.
We use the 8oz Evo sprayers for oils applied in more modest doses, namely truffle oil; and the 18oz bottle for everyday olive oils that are used in comparatively large amounts. Both 18oz and 8oz Evo bottles sit on out counter at all times.
Like the 18oz bottle, the Evo 8oz sprayers deliverer a far more coarse spray than the oil mister designs do, so the buyer should not confuse the two tools - misters and sprayers- as synonymous. Having said that, I think the spray's coarseness reflects the design of the self-syphoning pump in the Evo bottles, and therein lies the fundamental fact that the Evo sprayers work, while others don't work.
These sounded like a good idea when I asked the Birthday Chicken to lay these on me: Refillable food safe spray bottles that didn't have to be pumped in order to spray. Well, the BC came through, and now that I have use of them for almost 6 months I must say am a bit underwhelmed.
The bottles themselves are nice design and a good size. The round shape means that they stay put and don't fall over like the Misto pump style sprayer that only lasted a little more than a year. The short height means the bottles fit well on the shelf near the stove and are comfortable to hold and use.
The dip tube is long enough so it bends to the outer edge of the bottle. This means you can position it so that it will spray as the contents get low even with the bottle tilted. I have yet to have either sprayer clog, which is more than I can say about the Misto.
The Not So Good
Its usefulness is a lot more limited than I anticipated. The sprayer does not spray a mist, only a course wide fan shaped spray. You can adjust it so the fan is vertical or horizontal, but it's still a wide fan shaped spray. To get that fan shaped spray you need a fairly strong pull on the trigger giving you a forceful spray. Pulling more gently does not get you a narrower fan shaped spray, but a stream.
While the course wide spray is fine for spraying a grill or a large frying pan, it is really easy to over spray a smaller frying pan. Holding it closer to a smaller pan doesn't really work either. Because you have to pull so hard on the trigger to get the fan spray, the force of the spray will cause more of the oil to splash out of the pan. This really needs a softer spring.
If you're used to using Pam or similar aerosol spray on a baking pan, this bottle is not for you. The spray is too course and too wide to be effective.
As for cleaning, their website [www (dot) evooilsprayers (dot) com (slash) about] says: "Cleaning the Evo Oil Sprayer is quick and easy. The bottle section can either be rinsed with water or put into the dishwasher." Well, technically they are correct. The bottle can be put in the dishwasher, but what they don't tell you is the bottle will shrink, even without heated dry. See the attached pictures. It's a good thing these come in packs of two. I sent a message to the company via their website but haven't heard back yet.
The Bottom Line
This is a great idea that needs better execution. The wide fan shaped spray is useful for some things but a fine spray option would really be welcomed. Since it comes in a pack of two, why not one course and one fine? I also don't have a problem with handwashing the bottles, but don't advertise them is dishwasher safe when they obviously are not.
I'll continue to use the one good bottle I have, but am still searching for spray bottle nirvana.
Shortly after posting this review, I received an email from Seth at Evo/Delta Sprayers. After exchanging a couple of emails a replacement bottle was quickly mailed to me, and it arrived a couple of days ago.
I also mentioned my concerns about the course spray and the spray pattern. He was receptive to my comments and indicated he would pass them on to the appropriate personnel.
