Got this is as a gift. Tried four recipes so far. The "spicy rice" and "lamb chops" are super tasty. The "shak" I did (cabbage, potato and peas recipe) was just ok. Surprisingly underseasoned, in my opinion. The raita was solid and accompanied the spicy rice and lamb chops nicely. That trio makes a nice dinner and I love that most of it can be made ahead too. The cookbook, round spice box and spices are nice too. I've done some Indian cooking previously and feel a straight up Indian cuisine beginner could make a few mistakes with this cookbook. For example, the raita recipe doesn't tell you to peel and squeeze the water out the cucumber before putting it in the yogurt. Maybe they don't think you need to do that, but i was taught by my Indian mother-in-law to get rid of the water or it will be a wet, runny mess. All in all, a nice little starter gift box for a non-Indian. I just feel the cookbook could have used one more good edit to make the recipes completely fool-proof.

My husband loves Indian food. We have 2 small children that aren't interested so it's rare that we can go to an Indian restaurant. I received a promotional code to get this at a discount in exchange for my honest review so I decided to give it to him for Father's Day. That went over very well! Simply receiving it and looking it over made him so happy and excited. We love the tin it comes in. It's a great size, looks very nice, and closes to keep all off the spices fresh and separate without needing their own individual lids. The spices provided are everything needed to make perfect, authentic Indian dishes (besides fresh ingredients of course). We only had 3 of those spices already so getting them all at once and having them in one place is very convenient. The recipe book is well organized and nicely put together. They have a great variety of dishes for all preferences. They provide information on each spice and there are 27 recipes. My husband's favorite Indian dish is Lamb Vindaloo. The book provides a recipe for "Steak & Ale Vindaloo" so that was the first dish he made, but he substitute in lamb in place of the steak. It was fantastic! It was especially impressive since he had never made Indian food before. We both loved it! A week later he made my favorite dish Chicken Masala. It was different than what I'm used to, but it was still absolutely delicious. We're looking forward to making more dishes with this set and trying new dishes we've never had before. It's clearly high quality spices and recipes. You can't go wrong!

I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest review. I have not been compensated in any way, nor promised any future promotions. I have no affiliation with the company at all, and I am not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts are my own and have not been influenced. If I encounter any issues in the future, I will update my review and adjust my rating accordingly.

The Kitchen Curry Master set was an incredible find for me. I have loved Indian food for years and up until now have only been able to create kitchen disasters with recipes that I've tried in the past. Not only were my previous endeavors time consuming (to research and gather ingredients) they also were not rewarding as I never found a recipe that I wanted to make again. Enter the Kitchen Curry Master Set which comes with the spices and knowledge you need to make many, many, many great meals! The tin is high quality and everything fits together perfectly. The spices were so fresh and fragrant I could smell them through the shipping box :). I personally LOVE the concept of no lids on the individual spice tins as it really makes it convenient to cook on the fly- it also smells wonderful when you open the tin- JUST like an Indian restaurant. The pictures in the cookbook and the recipe descriptions looked so mouth watering it was challenging to pick which recipes to try first! Upon receipt I read the cookbook cover to cover and was ready to get cooking- I literally intend on making every single recipe within the next few weeks. I was pleasantly surprised that I had many of the pantry staples on hand and what I didn't have was easily obtainable from any local grocery- this is a HUGE plus for me as I love to cook and visit specialty markets but my time is limited these days. The recipes were straightforward and easy to follow- even for this beginner Indian cook. On night one we tried the Spicy Rice, Cauliflower and Pea Curry, Shrimp Curry, and Raita. They were devoured by everyone in my family including my 4 year old son! The spicy rice was spot on and was the crowd favorite- we were sad we didn't prepare a double batch because there were no leftovers.Read more ›

I've been a vegetarian for 24 years. (Also, I am old.) When I married a guy who is lactose intolerant, we basically became vegan. Sure, I sneak cheese on my own time and ole boy likes a burger at lunch, but when we're together it's hard to find cuisine that fits both of us and ordering out gets expensive. I've always LOVED Indian food, so I was really excited to try this during a promotional period.

The way it works is this is a cook book + spice kit. For each recipe you are given a list of grocery ingredients, which you then add to the various spices according to the recipes. If you happen to live in an area that has Amazon Fresh, I'd recommend putting cilantro, peas and potatoes in your cart when you purchase this item as those fresh ingredients pop up several times. For example, the first meal I made with this was potato curry + spinach & peas + a half recipe for steak stew for the hubs. Next week I'll make the potato and peas curry and after that, the eggplant potatoes. Everything is served with a fistful of cilantro, so you see my point.

I really hope the author of this book has a follow-up edition. I'd love to learn more recipes. Also, maybe they could branch out and make a thai series? A girl can dream.
