Product Description

Set of two silicone cotton padded kitchen oven mitts with padded inner liner make up this comfortable, handy oven glove. A non-skid, non-slip silicone on the outside protects your hands from heat. Fabric on the inside keeps your hands comfortable. The raised grooves are ideal for gripping. The inner padding and flex of the silicone provide better movement and gripping power than most silicone mitts. Silicone is high heat resistant up to 425-Degree f. The silicone cotton padded kitchen oven mitts feature a handy cloth loop to hang glove from for easy storage.

These are so great! I have All-Clad pots and pans which can get very hot, specifically the roasters and pizza stone. The stone bakes at 450 degrees, which melted the last pair of mitts that I owned. These are great against the heat, and don't even feel warm after putting the hot stone down. I was a little concerned at first that they came with a tag that states heat resistant to 425, when the product details on here state 485; whatever the case, they absolutely hold up to the higher temps. They're a great size, even fitting my husbands large hands, and have a soft comfortable jersey-like lining. The outsize is very simple to clean with a damp cloth or the tag says diswasher safe. Great product!

These gloves look like rubber gloves, which they are, but they do their job.

If you put your hand inside, there is an inner layer of cloth under the rubber. The mitts insulate well against all the things I've baked.
When I used cloth gloves, I still felt warmth. But these gloves seem to protect against heat better.

The only thing I don't like is that they look very synthetic and aren't as pretty as the cloth mitts.
I suspect this is the reason why most mitts are made of cloth and silicone blends, instead of pure silicone as an outer cover.
If you can get past their looks, they work well. I think these will probably last a long time.

***********************UPDATED 01/01/2013*************************************************************************************************

I've owned these gloves for several months now using these to carry items fresh out of the oven, such as shepherd's pie (heated to 400 degrees F).
They have held up very well and the outside surface has been easy to clean. I just wipe with a damp sponge and any liquid or crumbs
come right off.

I was looking for ambidextrous oven mitts, because the vast majority out there are for right hands only. I didn't want to buy dedicated left and right ones either. I just wanted to go into a drawer and pick out a pair and put them on and not burn myself.

I sorted by rating and saw that these were the highest.

I saw silicone was rated higher for heat than that silver stuff on oven mitts.

I saw my old oven mitts and agreed that the silver stuff does peel off after awhile.

I bought these oven mitts and they're the best mitts I've ever owned.

They were cheap too.

You know why you're looking at these...Silicone, ambidextrous, cheap.

The insides feel good too.

I bought these because I gave my Kitchen Basics mitts to my son when he went off to college.

When the package arrived I was immediately suspicious. It came in a clear plastic bag with a generic looking label (I will post a picture). There was no discernible branding on the package or the mitts.
When I tried the mitts they felt stiff and less "grippy" when compared to the Kitchen Basics brand.

I also noticed a number of inaccuracies on the Amazon listing for this product.
- the Amazon site states the gloves are heat resistant to 485- Degree F; the label on the product itself states heat resistant to 425 degrees F
- the Amazon site states 100- Percent cotton liner; the label on the product itself states 90% polyester, 10% cotton
- the Amazon site states machine washable; the product label indicates hand wash (bit it also says it is Dishwasher Safe. go figure!)

I realize these are nits but it does bring the product and how it is advertised into question.
If you search for" Kitchen Basics Professional Oven Mitt" on the Amazon site it will return the Kitchen Basics product, sold by an Amazon Partner Golda's Kitchen, which looks identical (aside from colour) to the Kitchen Elements product. Even the silicone pattern on the exterior of the mitt is exactly the same.

From our experience that is where the similarities end. It should be noted that the Kitchen Basics mitts are roughly twice the price - they are sold individually.

This review is not to state that the Kitchen Elements product won't work, however the Kitchen Basics product is far superior. I also think Amazon should exert better quality control over their product listings - this one is not factual and I don't like to be fooled into buying a knock off by Amazon, a company I have always trusted.

They aren't heat resistant up to 450 degrees (425 on the tag) like stated in their description, and these DO NOT have a cotton lining. It's a slick polyester and I damn near burned my hand when it slipped off in a piping hot oven.

These look slightly different than the ones featured - I'm guessing they switched SKUs to something different from the ones that have had some pretty good reviews in the past. If you cook things over 350 degrees or if you have small hands, don't bother with these. Hopefully Amazon with let me return them.

Great gloves. They work, they're comfortable and cover the wrists. Not bulky and hard to grip like other silicone type gloves.

Silicone rubberized on the outside with no slip grip, and soft cotton on the inside. If you look up the red colored version of this product, you'll be able to see pictures of what they look like. The red ones have excellent reviews, and these are definitely the same product in blue. I used them to pick up a pizza stone that was 450 degrees (F) and I felt no heat at all. To wash them, I just wear them and "wash my hands".
