These are perfect for baking in my RV oven for several reasons:

1. The small size makes them easier to store than a large stone.

- I kept the hefty box the stones were originally packaged in and place a paper towel btw each stone before placing it in the box. The box of stones fits in a drawer.

2. The small size makes placing the individual tiles in the oven easier.

- the smaller size makes them quite easy to place in the oven and easy to adjust to fit my needs. I sometimes place the stones on the flat surface on the bottom of the oven ( the flat shelf above the broiler) to produce a more even heat in my oven when baking a pie, cake, casserole, etc on the oven rack.

- when baking no knead bread I place the stones on the rack then place my Range Kleen Porcelain 8-1/2-Inch-by-13-Inch Broil & Bake Pan on the flat shelf on the bottom of the oven to produce the steam as is required to get the light crispy crust. The Pan Gripper Deep Dish Model makes sliding the broiler pan out and adding the hot water quickly then pushing the broiler pan back in place fast, easy and safe. When baking a small loaf as I often do, I only use 4 of the stones.

3. The small size makes them easy to clean.

- The small size enables them to be placed in the sink for a good soaking and they fit into my small dish drainer for a thorough drying.

Glad I chose this set of smaller versatile stones over a single large stone.

Without these clay tiles, the underside of my foccaccie were burning. Now, with them, all sides of the foccaccia are perfectly baked. The tiles fit my oven rack, leaving at least one inch all around for heat circulation. Highly recommended.

These oven tiles are wonderful for making pizza, bread, stromboli, etc. They provide even, radiant heat in the oven and work great with a pizza peel. I had to purchase two sets to get enough surface area to cover a rack. One small downside is the 6" sq size does not fit a conventional oven rack. I tried cutting them myself but if you don't have a tile saw forget it. I ended up taking them to a local tile dealership and they cut them for me for a small fee.

I love these stones! I have been making homemade pizza and bread for years and although the results have been good (well, after years of practice, anyway!), my pizzas were almost never really great. I was using Lodge cast iron pizza pans, which were working pretty well, but something was still missing. The crusts weren't crispy enough, and they always seemed slightly underdone on the bottom-even when I preheated the cast iron- and overdone on top. Bleh! Years ago I even tried a baking stone which I bought at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was very heavy and awkward, and broke after only a few uses. Very frustrating! I starting looking for another solution. After researching online I found this set of 6 stones-perfect! They are easily configured to your oven's size, and they are thicker than the one piece stones that I have seen. And not having to lift a large, heavy stone (or cast iron skillet), not to mention worry about dropping it, is a BIG plus in my book.

The best part is my pizzas (and breads!) have improved dramatically! The crusts on my pizzas are just right- crispy, (not tough!) and they finally have that pizzeria taste and texture I have been pining for. And as a bonus, the bread that I baked using the "Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day" basic recipe had an oven spring like you would not believe! They always rose pretty well on the cast iron, but the difference on these stones was dramatic. When I slid it onto the stones, it didn't look like it would rise much-but lo and behold, it must have tripled in height! I was so tickled-and the crust was nice and crispy...yum! I really think I need to bake some more today... Oh, and as others have mentioned, they arrived quickly and were extremely well packed, with a note on how to use them. These stones are worth every penny-I would not hesitate to recommend these.

I love my new baking stones. I purchased two packages of these baking stones, 12 in all. I bake everyday, bread I learned how to mix and bake from the two books I purchased on Amazon, Healthy bread baking in 5 minutes a day. These stones bake evenly, and, never have I burned a loaf of free standing bread yet! I make and sell specialty bread, all of my own receipes. I enjoy baking so much and wanted to use baking stones for all of my breads. I finally have what I need to make a beautiful artian(SP) loaf of bread. Be sure to read and follow the instructions to the "T". Another thing I have done is called my local Sears store, they throw away all of the old stoves and things away. I asked if I could have a couple of racks from an old oven. I fould two that fix my oven. These are heavy duty racks I place my stones on, my oven have very thin racks, and I was afraid they would bend with the weight of the baking stones, they work wonderful. I also found a shelf from an old refrigerator, I use this for a cooling rack, I fits the entire width of my counter, I cool my bread on this, and it fits 5 dozen cookies at a time!. Try different things for you cooling needs, you might be surprized, as I was, how nice different things may work out for you.
Sincerely,
David Super Chef
