From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.
An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

1. It looks just amazing to have them shown, we have visitors complimenting the looks of the pans and then they see Kitchen Aid and say "wow". It's a good feeling.
2. The cooking is very fast and the burn is very even....amazing. I whipp up two eggs in under 3 minutes. The other day I cooked and omelette and upon flipping it over the cook diagragm was very evenly spaced and consistent. Again Amazing !!!
3. Most reviewers say it is easy to clean....that is so true!!! One quick clean with either a dish sponge or a simple rag will do the job.
3. The handles do not get warm even when warming up the pan. You can leave the pot warming and grab the handle with full confidence and you will not worry about the handle being warm.
4. The top glass is very stylish and durable. We accidentally dropped one and not a scratch.
5. The price with the special offer from Amazon brings this pot down to a very affordable price.
6. These pots are enough to cover your every day cooking needs. I believe they will also last at least over 5 years so I highly recommend them.
Again thanks to Amazon for just being Amazon, but people out there taking the time to input reviews, I want to thank you for the comments and reviews that lead me to believe there are good people still out there watching out for one another.
Amazon is just awesome in most areas, I hardly ever shop at ebay because of Amazon.
In December 2008, Amazon offered the KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set at a price I couldn't resist, so I bought two sets. After years of success with KitchenAid appliances like my stand mixer, blender, and food processor, KitchenAid is a name I trust for quality and durability.
With 12 pieces, this set offered everything I needed for every day cooking: 1-, 2-, and 3-quart covered saucepans; 8- and 10-inch skillets; 8-quart covered stockpot; 12-inch covered sauté with helper handle; and lids that fit every pot and pan. I do a lot of cooking, so having the right pot or pan for each dish is important. I think my favorite piece has been the 12-inch covered sauté pan. This has proven a godsend when making fried chicken, frying up chicken breasts for chicken piccata, and much more. The smaller frying pans are great for grilled cheese sandwiches, omelets, etc. but the big sauté pan has been more useful than I expected.
All of the pots and pans have silicone grips around the stainless steel handles, so they feel good and sturdy when using them but remain cool to the touch when cooking. I rarely need to use potholders with these pans, even on the lids.
The lids are clear glass, which makes it really easy to take a peek at how your dish is coming along without being tempted to remove the lid too soon and let some heat escape. Even though they are glass, they are also very strong and don't seem likely to break very easily, as the last three years of heavy use have demonstrated very well.
The pots and pans themselves are made of heavy-gauge hard-anodized aluminum. They also feel pretty sturdy, but I actually have had an issue with one of the 8-quart stockpots. I lent both of my 8-quart pots to a friend and when she returned them, one of the pots had a dent in side at the mouth of the pot. It wasn't a huge dent and I didn't notice it when she first returned them, but it became all too apparent when I tried to put the lid on it as it no longer fit. A male friend of mine was able to push this dent back out fairly easily, and it now looks as good as new. I have no idea what she did to this pot - she could have drop-kicked it for all I know. I have never personally dented any of these pots and pans even when I've dropped them, so I really can't take any points off the rating for this.
The only thing that did keep this set from earning five stars from me is the fact that KitchenAid voids the warranty if you put them in the dishwasher. I really do prefer to put everything I can in the dishwasher for multiple reasons, chief of which is that it is easier and it sterilizes better than washing by hand.
My old cheap set of pots and pans boasted a "non-stick" surface which worked well enough when I first got them, but eventually didn't work as well as they should and also were prone to scratching. No matter how careful I was with them, there were still times they would scratch - especially when company who didn't know how to use non-stick surfaces properly helped with cooking or washing dishes. The KitchenAid set's hard anodized surface has proven a much better non-stick surface and works as well three years after I bought them as they did when I first took them out of the box. They heat well and clean easily, even if I do have to wash them by hand.
Now for the purely cosmetic observations. Although they are the `plain old' steel color, this is a very attractive set. They are well constructed and have pleasing shapes. While they may not be as fanciful or pretty as the enamel covered pans, they have a simple understated elegance that I appreciate.
As I said before, I bought two sets of these pans when they were on sale, and I've not been sorry. I like to have two of several of these pot and pan sizes, because there are times when you need more than one of the same size. Like for instance when you make a big spaghetti dinner - you need a large stockpot for the noodles and another for the sauce. Although I would normally buy only one to see that I liked them well enough to buy another, I didn't want to miss the sale price offered at the time. I have never been sorry that I bought two sets.
I do highly recommend these pots and pans, as well as the KitchenAid brand in general.
Nothing sticks to these pans, and I mean nothing. A simple wipe with a soft sponge and anything just comes right off.
They heat very evenly, which makes for good omelettes etc...
They do not warp and wobble like so many other (much cheaper) pots and pans have done.
The box seemed to be slightly damaged when I received it, but everything looked appeared to be good when I opened it to make sure everything was there. The only pot my wife never uses is the smallest sauce pan, which she finally broke out the other day, and we noticed that the lid would not seat properly. I will now begin the process of trying to exchange this damaged pan, and will update my post regarding customer service.
I also ordered a new Kitchenaid Countertop Blender. Based on the merits of out stand mixer and the cookware, I believe they deserve a shot. You can be expecting my review after we have put it through some use (plus it had good reviews as well)
Overall, we could not be happier.
