I have an old KitchenAid Classic 275-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer that works great, however the 4.5qt bowl is not quite big enough to easily mix and knead two loaves of bread dough. This bowl is only half a quart larger but gets the job done and handles larger quantities. The handle is an added bonus and makes carrying the bowl easier when it is full and potentially heavy. Even if you do not need a larger bowl, this is a great addition to your kitchen since you can easily switch between bowls instead of washing your bowl in the middle of a cooking/baking project.
I have not had any issues with this bowl fitting my 4.5qt mixer and all of the attachments work with it as well. I highly recommend this bowl for your 4.5 or 5 quart KitchenAid mixer.
I have had zero issues with the bowl that originally came with the mixer (approximately 10 years old). The only difference between the two bowls is that the original bowl was manufactured in Korea and the new bowl was manufactured in India. It is obvious that the materials are not the same as the one bowl is ferromagnetic while the other is not. I will definitely return this new bowl and will be hesitant to purchase any KitchenAid attachments in the future. It is discouraging to see a once well-regarded company not live up to its original standards.
