Out of the box, smooth and sleek with no holes in the base to worry about cleaning. Pieces seem sturdy and well constructed. Very quiet motor, especially for the size. We'll have to see on the longevity of the motor, if something happens to it I will definitely update this review.
Ran it through some slicing, dicing and pureeing, seems pretty effective.
The ability to adjust the slicer is pretty interesting; I've never thought about that feature but now its pretty cool to have it. There are 5 settings, I would equate these to what you'd ask for in a deli when ordering cold cuts or cheese. However, this in no way would replace a commercial meat slicer; I can't imagine shoving a ham down the feed tube.
One note on a safety feature: the main feed tube has a metal rod that must be inserted into the lid for the processor to operate. When attempting to slice an onion, I didn't realize this and thought it had stopped working. I ended up lifting the mid-size feed tube (there are 3 nested, for real) out of the main tube so the metal rod went in, but the onion still fit. Then it sliced just fine. A little more complicated than I'm used to, but I guess it probably could take your finger off so I guess the extra protection is warranted in this day and age. I guess if you're looking to slice off body parts, go get a $30 version....or the aforementioned meat slicer.
Another note - KitchenAid appears to be owned by Whirlpool, which I was not aware of or even thought to look up. This has been true since 1986. I haven't experienced anything negative from either of those companies, but it might be good to know in case you have.

Excellent product with 2 issues

This is a very nice processor but I didnt give it 5 stars because of 2 things that I find annoying:
The only way it works is if you have all the elements in the feeder shoot. It wont work otherwise. Why is this annoying? Because all of those elements get dirty and you have to wash them all afterwards. I think that having just one MAIN feeder would be way better and if you want to use all of the other ones, then that's great!
The directions were hard to follow sometimes. When I first used it , I had it all set up but it wouldnt power on. I had my husband look at it and he couldnt get it to work either. We both thought it was defective and would have to send it back. He did some more research and found a YouTube video that explained. Basically all the black colored things have to be lined up now it works!
Other than that it is great!

I was disappointed in the performance of this processor and especially because my other Kitchen Aid products are stars in my kitchen. I was interested in getting a different brand than the one I have used for 35 years and found the 'adjustable slicing blade' on this one to be of interest and I liked the modern-looking housing and color. The attachments are in a very nice storage box, fit well and are easily accessible. Nice color and updated look to the bowl.

I grate cheese with my processor, I found the single multi-purpose grating blade to give a varying results on the size and appearance of the grated cheese. The motor didn't seem up to the task of the pieces of cheese I put in to grate, it seemed overloaded and haltingly grated the varied size of pieces, kind of messy. It is possible if I cut smaller pieces of cheese it would work better, but I expect my new processor to be at least as good as my 12 year old one which is comparable size. I did not try the adjustable slicing blade at all, but I did try to grate a different kind of cheese in a few days but still felt I would stay with my old one and replace it when needed with the same brand. I waited too long to return this machine, but I am going to give it to someone who hasn't ever had a food processor and perhaps who would use it for lighter duty.

Weak motor, quality is lesser than our KitchenAaid KFPM650. Deeply dissatisfied.

I'm unfortunately very disappointed in the motor strength of this processor. We bought it as a replacement to our aging but still strong KFPM650 because it seemed to add some neat processing options. What I didn't know was that those options are really all this device has to offer. When we got it I was instantly a bit confused since the box with all accessories was as heavy as just the base of the old one... This foretold the frustrations that we would have in the coming months.

To date we have not used the dial a blade thing, only used the shredder attachments which we had with the 650. I make meatloaf, kofta kebabs, and some other meaty treats from time to time and this thing can't even handle a pound. The old one took 2 with little struggle. The motor just bogs down and shuts off on this one. What's worse is that even using one pound, the meat seeps its way up inside the blade gumming up the works even worse. So in order to do the last batch, I had to work with 1/3 pound batches.. that's sad. Lastly, the motor in this model is much louder than our older model and the base is lighter. When it gets going it sometimes bounces a bit on the counter unless I hold it firmly down.

Pros: Lots of blades and ways to get a neat-o veggie tray with it. Could likely blend soup.
Nice design for the dial a blade thing. Nice smaller work bowl.

Cons: Very weak motor, poor blade mount which allows product inside it when using, shakes quite a bit being so light.

So my wife like to cook and she does all type of crazy stuff so she like to make her own pasta sauce and always thinking of making different stuff to eat and she always wanted one of these food processor so I got this one for her and man she love it this thing has so many different blade to shred to grind and chop and everything come out so good only thing it’s a pain to clean but beside that great products helps a lot with cooking and making different things home I recommend it

Works mostly OK, but has some issues

We did our research before buying this machine, and the reviews were good. Plus we liked to ruggedness and functionality of other Kitchen Aid machines we own, so we went with this food processor. The machine is rugged and it comes with some nice features, like the 3-way adjustable feed tube, the two different sized bowls and the convenient storage box for the accessories, but there are some issues. First of all, the shredder and slicer disks don't work with the small bowl. The only accessory that works with the small bowl is the small chopper blade. WTF? Then there is the food waste. Both the chopper disk and the shedder disk do the job well, but they waste a lot of food because there is too much space between the lid and the blade. This causes a lot of the stuff you are trying to shred/slice to get stuck between the lid and the disk. Once these chunks of tomato/carrot/onion/cheese/whatever get stuck there, they don't get processed and you have to stop the machine to clear them out and they are wasted, because they are too small to process again, they just get stuck again. When using the shedder or slicer disks, I figure the machine only processes about 80% of the food, the rest is wasted. This would have been easy to prevent by just reducing the space between the lid and the disks. The other issue is cleaning. As the guy who ends up doing most of the dishes in the house, I am constantly amazed at how little design effort is put into making kitchen gadgets easy to clean. The disks have rolled edges when food gets stuck and difficult to get out, The lid is full of all sorts of nooks and crannies on the inside that are amazingly efficient at trapping food bits and at times I have to go at them with the point of a knife to get everything out. The plunger for pushing the food down is a nightmare! It is made up of 3 nesting sections to handle different sized pieces of food, probably to combat the food waste issue I mentioned above (Fail!), but that makes it a b__ch to clean. It too has many many nooks and crannies for processed food to get stuck in. Why not give it at least a solid outer surface to prevent this? All around I can only give this machine three stars, but with a little more thought, it could have been so much better. I expected more from Kitchen Aid. Don't they test these machines before they start selling them?

I do large batches of canning every summer and my new KitchenAid food processor is an excellent choice for the tasks I need to accomplish. Over the years, I have had 3 previous units that leaked badly and would not hold anywhere near the full capacity of the bowl without the liquids running all over my countertop. My KitchenAid food processor is a sturdy and quiet machine with attachments (that come in a handy storage case) for everything that I want my machine to do. I am especially thrilled with the covering on the blade that fits over the high central column in the bowl like a cap. When I push the button, the unit seals and prevents liquids from leaking out of the centre column. There is also a very effective seal ring around the lid which stops liquids from leaking out the top of the bowl. I read reviews on many different food processors, and these 2 seal features, that make the full capacity of the 11 cup bowl useable without leaking or spilling over, were what sold me on this unit. I would recommend it to anyone who does large batches of food preparation, especially liquid items like tomatoes and fruit. It really will hold 11 cups of processed tomatoes without leaving a mess all over the counter! I am very pleased to own a machine that makes clean-up quick & easy! I also really like the wide mouth option on the feeder tube. This is an excellent and well-designed appliance that has earned my highest recommendation.

While the operating buttons could be designed for easier handling, all the other aspects of this machine do the job very well. The plastic is durable (I accidentally dropped one component a few days after purchase and it did not break, although that was the reason for replacing my old food processor-a cheaper brand). I was amazed at how quiet it is as compared to my old, cheaper food processor. Size good for moments when you decide to double a recipe-all the chopping fits in the large cup. Had it for 2 months now, using it 3-4 times a week and very happy overall.

I haven’t owned this long as I bought it to replace a processor that gave up over the holidays after many years of service. I like the large capacity of the main bowl. The machine is a bit of a fiddle to use, but I put this down in part at least to safety considerations. I wish the coarse side of the reversible shredding disk were a bit coarser: it shreds too fine for my taste for coleslaw, and the slicing disk makes overly long shreds. Cleaning is quite complex.

Right up front I'll say this unit is mostly good, but when used for bread dough there is some kinda crazy shutoff detection. The motor seems strong enough but there is a "too easy" shutoff safety mechanism. So we have to constantly reset it while finishing preparing the dough. Otherwise nice attachments and attachment box included. Quality unit with no issues other than when the dough gets thicker (when the going gets tough) it stops.
