I am a fairly new amatur Chef and I bought this hand blender for myself for a late Christmas Present. It just arrived last night and I love it! I used it to make dinner last night. I used the chopper last night to chop up Onions and Garlic and it worked out great fastest most efficient job of chopping that I have done. Also used the mixer to whip up an egg wash and great results. Used it to whip up my scrambled eggs this morning, my eggs have never been so light and fluffy.This mixer is totally worth every penny, I look forward to using it for more and more meals in the future. I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

    I bought this for temporary use being away from home and my food processor. I love this product! I like having the case to corral all the pieces. It took me a while to figure out what the different blades were best for and how best to manipulate the wand to mix stuff. It's not good for thick spreads like hummus--the motor has to work too hard and it doesn't mix really thick pastes like a food processor can. I like the variable speeds you can set on the top ring (but the numbers are hard to see). It took me a couple of times to get the feel for how to "lock" the blade onto the shaft and the shaft into the motor for using the wand. It surprised me that there isn't a "lock" for using the cup/chopper--the motor just sits on the top to the chopper. I love the way it blends soups (creamy cauliflower soup with no fat! YUM!), makes mayonnaise type spreads, chops, and whips. The only attachment I haven't used yet is the frother. The only down is my fingers get tired holding the button in, and I have to switch hands a lot, but that's because I'm using it for what should be done in a food processor. The cord is sufficiently long altho it does get in the way sometimes--but that would be a problem with any wand mixer. I"m very pleased with this product and it will get used for quick jobs, when I get back home, even with my food processor.

    Was concerned at first because of the reviews not being higher and the wattage only being 75W compared to the 300W claimed by another with a higher rating but unfamiliar brand. Package came quickly, chose this one because of being sold by Amazon which stands behind whatever they sell and because the product was a name brand everyone knows. I also prefer the twist vs the push button to release the blades. Loved the idea of having 3 blades to choose from if desired. Comes with a case for the attachments which is a bonus.

    But as for the function - there is no lack of power - I liked the idea of pushing one button to operate it and release it to stop instead of the two buttons on others. I put a banana in water with powder mix and never noticed a hesitation in the motor and all was blended in just a few seconds to liquid smooth with no clumps at all. When turning it on in the drink it feels like a magnet pulling it down due to the strength of the turning blade. Used the S blade for my purpose. Wife was initially dissapointed using it but found she forgot to pull off the blade guard all of the blades come with - after removing it she was impressed with the power. Both of us are very satisfied with the purchase. If problems arise I will post them as well as we are new owners.

    Over all, the KHB2561CU 5-Speed hand blender is a pretty good product! First, what I really like about this product is its versatility. Need a frother? You can easily swap out the blade attachment to one which froths milk and does a nice job at it, too. Need a blender? Yep, it has a blending attachment and a cutting attachment for all your in-bowl kitchen work. The five speed settings make the work easier and cleaner (As opposed to a single speed device I used to use which could spin product right out of a bowl if not careful!). As a side note, the blender attachment blade is really nice for emulsions such as salad dressings.

    The power of this hand held device is just amazing. For example, I had to make sure to pulse milk in the pitcher that comes with the blender; otherwise, I would have spun milk all over the place even at the lowest setting! This brings me to another feature I like and that is having the speed control knob sitting on top of the blender: it makes it easier to switch speeds while blending.

    The grip and feel of the KHB2561CU 5-Speed hand blender is remarkable to me. It fits perfectly in my hands (which are probably average sized for a male) and is very comfortable.

    Now for some of the reasons this blender didn't earn five stars for me. While the grip is really comfortable, this blender is a monster in size compared to other brands. Not only is it large, but it is heavy. I didn't realize how big it would be until it arrived. The case it rests in, with all the attachments, is the size of a brief case. I would have preferred something I could store in my kitchen drawers.

    I also found it hard to remove the various attachments from the case. They have a very tight fit in their molded resting places which makes it difficult to remove without fear of breaking something. A simple cloth bag for the attachments would be better, I think.

    I don't like the blade attachment guards and don't use them. The guards are meant to protect bowls and other cookware you might be working in. However, if I am breaking down cooked tomatoes, for example, I want the blade to engage the tomatoes. The supplied guards prevent the blades from doing something like that; save for one guard which will allow the blades to engage the food, but then why use the other guards? Sorry KitchenAid, but four guard attachments make no sense to me. The one that will allow solid foods and the blades to touch would have been enough, but then again I am not worried about scratch my bowls with a hand blender. So why the fuss?

    Finally, the whisk attachment is permanently fixed to its own base which is then secured to the hand blender. I don't like this at all, since it is hard enough to hand wash whisks let alone one with a mechanical base attached to it. KitchenAid could have designed a whisk that was much more dishwasher friendly and one which could be removed from its base for that purpose.

    Over all, though, I am quite pleased with my purchase and hope to get allot of use out of the KHB2561CU 5-Speed hand blender. KitchenAid products typically serve me quite well. The KHB2561CU 5-Speed shouldn't be an exception.
